There's a lot of talk in this thread about how bad Equis is but does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives?

It sounds like Equis is primarily a Mortgage Protection shop. Is that what you are wanting to do?

Choose a IMO that's reputable on this forum. That way you know you won't be lied to or cheated as if that happens we all would find out.
But, the main thing is finding an up line that can teach you everything. High comp & great leads only go so far. Expertise can never be lost.

There are some good mentors on this forum you might want to check out. Dave Dufford, Doug Massi, or Ben Bowman have stellar reputations.

All great choices. I signed up with Ben. I started selling FE 6 months ago & this month I wrote $20,000 AP on just 25 leads a week. Trust me you wouldn't think training & support is that important but it is!

Appreciate that, but I can't take the credit for it. You just buy leads and work your butt off. That is what sets the good agents apart from the bad ones. Now that you moved the leads to 35 per week, 20k will be a thing of the past

Yes, the burden of success falls on the agent 100% of the time.

Training is key! Having support is key... but let's get real, that doesn't mean you have to have a system like Equis who gives you a 70 point contract and you are to drink the koolaid and be thankful. I came from the MP background, did very well in it... but, because of the free training I got from Ben, when I wasn't even his agent, just a phone call about talking shop, it completely changed my game. Last week, using the training I got from Ben on one of his recent Blitzes, I had my best week in insurance ever, writing over $18k! So, can it be done yes. Do you have to get training and take a HUGE haircut to get it... HELL NO. Doug, Dave and Ben, they are all great guys. Ask tons of questions, whether I help you, Ben or anyone else, make sure they are looking to help you not only make money, but also to grow as an agent and a person.
