Final Expense Carriers

To go along with my previous thread, who are the "Must Have" final expense carriers in Florida? I don't want 20 of them, but I would imagine that I need 3-5 to meet most situations. Feel free to correct me at any time, since I'm guesssing here.

Please note that my questions are specific to Florida. I have run a few searches, but as with any market not all carriers operate in the Florida and it seems that some previously recommended are no longer in business.

Any helpful input is appreciated.

I like Americo for final expense they do pretty good on commissions and they have a guaranteed issue product which is always good to have.

1. Foresters

They have great rates, good commission, underwriting is done while you are with the client. great support, 130yr old company... they are my favorite.

I agree with you, you need about 3-5 to cover all situations. I think if you have Foresters, United Home Life, Assurity, Americo, Fidelity and Settlers, you will have your bases covered.

I recommend that you take each application and break it down into health sections. List which companies will accept or decline which illnesses.

I keep something like this in my notebook and this helps me know which companies to use for each disease.

It's a great tool and it will increase your sales.

And dont rule out Baltimore Life they are a strong company as well with competitive rates. Alot of my agents like them because of the paperless application process they have.

Jody108,
If Foresters is your number 1 company, in what situations would you use the other 5 companies that you mentioned?
Thanks

I personally would cross out UHL, I have tried, tried, tried, to give UHL business I have 5 deasl this year alone that UHL has decided to declined for silly reasons that Foresters will accept in a matter of 9 minutes. Apprently UHL does not need the business so I would not waste my time on them.

I have had the same luck with UHL. Everything I've sent them this year has been declined. . Granted, it hasn't been many. But, they claim to tell you at the phone interview if it's a go or not. In no case have they given me an answer at the conclusion of the phone interview.

I've been told that they are good if a person take s a lot of meds. I don't know if that's true or not. The 5 year lookback takes most of my clients out of the equasion to start with.

One of the declines was on a graded product. What the hell is there to decline on that?

I will predict that in about 6 months we will have people on here making the same complaints about Foresters.

What are you guys doing to have so much difficulty? My experience with UHL has been just the opposite. I always have an answer at the end and in most cases it's accepted. I use them for clients that I know Foresters will not accept and for under 50. The 1 or 2 they have declined, had also been declined by Foresters.

In my case they were the carrier of last resort, so, I wasn't putting great clients with them to start with. But, on almost everyone they told me at the end of the phone interview that there were some "issues" they needed to look into and would get back to me.

The graded that was declined was because of being in the hospital too many times. The question asks about being in the hospital for other than minor things, or something like that. He had been in the hospital for minor things. UHL didn't agree, but, they didn't agree until a week later. I referred the guy out to an LH agent and he got him approved for immediate coverage for less premium than UHL's graded.

I probably don't give them a fair chance. I don't like the fact that they charge back 100% for death on their graded. I don't like the fact that they are FB. I'm a union guy at heart and FB is the sworn enemy of unions here in Ky. Probably everywhere else too.
