Final Expense Expectations & Advise for First Timer?

Same advice I would give but I would add that he is getting hosed paying $20 for leads and only 80% contracts.

Okay so I am getting "Hosed" can i still make a descent living based on these numbers if i work this business hard?

I am not the FE guy to answer your question and I mean no disrespect, However, Whenever I read "new guy" and "how soon should I build a team" my eyes do a 360.

I am sure one of the big dog FE guys will give you better advise. But mine is learn to prospect and sell your prospects before you even type the word team again.

Wino nails it with what he said. Don't worry about anything other than prospecting and selling a this time. In 3-4 years you can look at doing otherwise one you become a pro.

You can easily make 25-35% higher commissions at $28 a lead. Just talk to Newby.

That's $160 more in lead costs a week. Even if your really bad and sell 3 policies a week, averaging $600 in AP each, you would make $180 a sale extra on average.

Man based off those number, you'd be better off even if you only made 1 sale a week.

Leave your IMO.

Probably. "Decent" is pretty subjective though. I made great money at NAA on 80% contracts and $28 leads and didn't know I was getting hosed.

That's the beauty of this forum. I wish I had known about it back then. I was doing over $250,000 ap with them per year. What if I had just known about 100% contracts?

I'm not interested in building a team so I can't help you there. I will say that you have a hard time recruiting is you are at 80%. That means you would have to start agents at less than 80% to make any money. Better hope they read here at the forum.;)

Hosed? Maybe, maybe not. What kind of training are you getting? What kind do you need? That 100 percent of nothing has _some_ validity. Really depends on your skill level and own drive.

So if he is bad he can make $69,120 per year at 80% with no lead expense? That's more than double the national average for insurance agents??? Wish I had that deal when I was new?

New guy to Final Expense & was curious how to incorporate a system where I can build my business successfully. I have been reading several post on this forum and have noticed there are several FE writers that are very successful....If you were to do it all over again how would you have built the fondation of your business differently and what would you not change that has been working from day one?

I have made the decision to start with 20 leads a week at roughly $400 per week lead cost. with 80% contract with promotion based on production.

of those 20 direct mail pieces I prefer to door knock instead of use the phone (just my personal preference, I understand you can be successful either or)....By maintaining my activity with 10 door knocks a day or 50 per week using a cookie cutter style presentation with roughly 5-6 companies to offer including Guarantee issue what would be a realistic first month, 6 month, first year outcome of net income?

Also how soon would you start recruiting a team? and also should i recruit a team? Pros & Cons

I really believe that a strong foundation right off the bat will help the momentum of my business and make each month easier as i learn the business..

Any advise or tips on some good threads to check out will be very much appreciated as I look forward to participating in this forum:biggrin:.

My advice would be NOT to start at 80% as others have stated as well!
