Final Expense Telesales Tips

I'm getting alot of agents asking me "What carrier is the easiest to sell over the phone?"

Thats actually the wrong question to lead with.

The better question is "Which carrier is the easiest to service customers over the phone?"

Some carriers will actually allow you to sell 100% telesales, but require signatures to make changes to policies... those can lead to heavy chargebacks.

I've heard over the years that whether you're doing telesales or just phoning for appointments, you should dress just like you're face to face with your clients. Supposedly it puts you in the right frame of mind.

Well, I got up this morning and started to take that advice on my first day of "shelter in place" telesales, but realized I still needed to rearrange some stuff in my office for maximum efficiency. So I put on my old cargo shorts and an old comfy cotton polo shirt that I don't mind getting dirty. In the middle of my moving stuff around (and throwing away a lot of accumulated paper!) I still made a couple phone calls, and took a couple others that came in. I ended up writing 3 of the 5 people I talked to today. I think the starched shirts can stay on the hanger a few more days!

Telesales Tip:

When you call on leads, use a system that allows for you to have a local area code. You should own these numbers so when they call back they all forward to your system, or one phone line.

Any reputable dialer company should have this function.

What companies did you use?

Central Security for 2 of them, and National Security (Elba, AL) for the other. The Central Security cases were existing clients adding coverage. The National Security was a referral from a LBL client, so I started out with LBL but switched to NSIC when it became clear that she would only qualify for modified. LBL modified is ROP for 3 years, but NSIC is 2 year true graded

How are you using National Security for telesales?

In this case I'm mailing (snail mail) for sigs because she needs a direct bill. But they told me that for bank drafted business, I can also initiate a 3 way call with underwriting to do a telephone app, then they'll email the client for sigs. I may need to call them again to clarify exactly how that procedure would go. For this case, I just needed to know if I could mail for sigs.

The guys from Equita had me on their Podcast yesterday specifically to talk telesales... there is some information in here geared specifically to F2F agents and how to transition into Telesales...

Hope you get something out of it.

Good stuff.
