Today was the 1st day since all the changes last yr that Ive had a reason to use Foresters. I had a 68/F/NS on insulin before 50 (so no RNA) & had started to develop some problems with her eyes (possibly from the diabetes), which knocked out Americo & insulin puts on standard with Monu. My only other choice was UHL & Foresters...and since UHL hasnt sent me my new apps with them, they were out too.

The app is shorter, so I like that....the questions are a lil confusing, but not terrible to get thru. But the PHI was long, cant really say how bad it was, cause Im not sure what exactly they ask the client. But I know she was on there 6min or so BEFORE she even started getting asked the Yes or No questions...so it was almost 10min total. I was on the phone 5-6 min to start & just a min or 2 afterwards.

RNA's is much shorted....Does anyone think Foresters PHI is better?? I thought that was the point, to simpify the app & PHI!

I've only written one Foresters since the changes and that was a couple of weeks ago. The interview took 14 minutes from dial to completion which wasn't as bad as I had heard. The guy was approved so it wasn't too bad.

Do you not do the interviews on speaker?

My client was approved too, so that does make it better... Although since she didn't wanna start til 3/3, & Foresters pays on draft, I won't be seeing that $$ anytime soon!

But no, I don't use my speakerphone feature of my phone when doing a PHI... People's voice go in & out on speaker, and I want them to have a clear connection so I never listen.

Is that common, to listen to the PHI?

I do all PHIs on speakerphone so I can hear what they're responding to. If the client has a cordless phone they typically have speakerphones which is your best choice. If I use my cell they sometimes get two or three beeps from folks trying to call in which is a distraction.

a week ago I wrote three Foresters apps and this is how they went.

the first one was approved as called and it went very smooth.

The 2nd was was approved as called. It was a replacement for a LH app that was totally fraudulent. The client had cancer in 2007 and the app had the cancer question answered no. The policy was sold over the phone in 2008. When I faxed it in I got an email stating because Foresters had turned her down in 2008 they would not approve her now on anything but a fully underwritten product. I got her approved at Americo.

The third app was suspended during the phone interveiw becasue of an MIB hit in regards to Kidney disease. Instead of approving it graded which the client agreed to do, they suspended it. I faxed it in asking for a graded and after three days they agreed to do so., only after sending me three turndowns.

I do beleive Foresters just made some changes to the phone interview. They are much faster than they wee right after the new app came out.

I still use Foresters mostly for non tobacco users where their rates are in line. This week I wrote three SNL's and 3 UHL's. SNL has good rates and they also have many pay options such as direct, state issued cards, credit cards etc.

I used UHL for three ladies in their 40's with weight issues along with other health issues. They were all approved very quickly. They did ask one client aobut their illegal drug use along with her seizure medication which she claimed was more than 2 years ago. Oh and she also had a felony conviction for illegal use of a bridge card.

I still say most people who don't sell the Foresters member benifits are dropping the ball. Benefits help sell and also add value. It takes two minutes to go over them and if they don't help its no big deal. But consider this; what if they do?

I always use the speaker. The only time I don't is the AmCon med sup interview and that's because they won't allow it to be on speaker. They have never said anything about the FE being on speaker.

I generally use my phone because most of my clients either don't have a speaker on their phone or they don't know how to use it.:twitchy:

?

+100 on the speaker phone

Just did a UHL yesterday on a lady- said her hgt /wgt was 5'4 250.. no other health issues- underwriting dropped her from Deluxe to Express Issue because of her weight-

Said he had records indicating her weight to be 60 pounds more than she stated- So UHL does in fact have a hgt/wgt restriction

One thing i really like about UHL is that the PHI reps, they'll tell you why your client was rated or declined- they'll tell you whats on their report whereas Foresters will tell you to write in a written request-

Using UHL PHI- you can get a great feel where to put a client

Foresters has a niche, wow, insulin Diabetics under 50..:twitchy:

I can make fun of the Canucks all I want...every time I have gone to our family reunions they talk about how great there hockey teams are ......then say they would rather go to a Red Wings Game!!!!! hahaha

Anyways, I think Foresters does have some decent rates and some nice member benefits, and its good to here the PHI is has been changed.

Always speaker phone. It puts the applicant at ease to know what you are discussing prior to them talking to the interviewer.

++ on that, the main reason is a lot of times that don't understand the question, or say can you repeat that again. Hence, you are there to guide them through the phone interview making the process more efficient and ++ on putting them at ease.
