Foresters and Stents

How would they get a stent in your body let alone a vein without surgery? Have you swallow it? haha
The same way they place a needle in your body.. When they give you a shot, it is not considered a surgical procedure.. The only difference is the size of the needle..:1arghh:

They give you anesthesia for a stent, not a shot. ha

I had a turkey baster like thing stuck under my knee cap to drain it several times with no anesthesia so I wound't call that surgery but if they are using a scalpel and giving anesthesia, it's surgery.

I wasn't talking about the anesthetic.. I was talking about the angioplasty itself.. The do not make an incision or use a scapel therefore it is non surgical. They insert a catheter into your artery just like if you were getting a shot. BTW, angioplasties and angiograms are often done with the patient awake. (been there, done that, got the Tee shirt)

That was my point Rouse. It's considered a non-surgical procedure. I guess these young kids know more about surgery than we do....(and I've had several).

It's all semantics anyway. Whatever the insurance companies say is the gospel anyway.

I'm not buying the non-surgical. I would guess that almost all of insurance companies and health providers consider it surgery. It fits the definition. Who can do the procedure? A nurse assistant can give a shot but I bet even an RN can't do a stent. Bet all doctors can give a shot but very few can do a stent. Is it done by a surgeon?? You don't get a sedative and localized anesthesia for a shot but I hear you do for a stent. It's a procedure that is done to your internal body and you have to puncture the skin to do it. If it walks like a duck... ha

Granted it's not as invasive as it once was but it still sounds like surgery to me but PCB is right, what the insurance company you are applying to is the only one that matters.
