GE is Dropping Retiree Coverage

For any newbies to the Forum...let me warn you about Ann. She typically posts accurate, helpful and very relevant information that should be read twice so you can absorb as much as you can.

And there are others (I am one of them) that simply post senseless drivel, quotes from George Costanza, and mischievous rants about fictitious SEO accomplishments.

That's what makes this Forum great. The diversity!

And CHUMPS is why I read this forum! Another warning about Ann though. Yes, she's female, despite the suspicion of members of this board who wonder if she's not. As a female, she shouldn't be harassed, angered, demeaned, or treated badly (as is often the case for members of this forum). She'll cry, leave momentarily, then come back and fight like a female. Ouch.

We will see more and more of this type of news.

Just before General Motors went bankrupt, there was a (secretly recorded) transcript from a General Motors Board of Directors meeting. They were discussing ways to reduce wellness benefits and initiatives for retirees, so they would DIE sooner. Due to collective bargaining agreements in place at the time, the retirees "Cadillac" health insurance costs were getting to the point of causing bankruptcy. Hmmm.. did GM go bankrupt due to employee/retiree benefit costs? I don't remember.

Say it's not so! And please say the US government would never hold meetings to decide if someone should die sooner to save health care dollars. Would they?? !!

GM went bankrupt because that was BHO's plan to reward the union, screw the creditors, non-union employees and taxpayers.

the fact that she's from Arizona, not that there's anything wrong with that..

I knew a guy from AZ. Used to work with him.

He is now divorced and serving time in prison for embezzlement.

I think he was referring to the fact that she's from Arizona, not that there's anything wrong with that....If you can live in the desert, there's probably nothing you can't accomplish, if you put your mind to it.

Funny thing about AZ. Most people think it's full of sand dunes. Actually, it's a thriving desert with palm trees, golf courses, stately saguaro cactus, swimming pools, and resort cities. Unfortunately, it can get blisteringly hot in the summer! North of Phoenix 150 miles is Flagstaff, and East 90 to 180 miles is Payson & Show Low, which are all situated in pine-tree forested mountains, with ski resorts & the like. Very few people know that 1/3 of Arizona is mountainous and forested and gets plenty of snow. But as for the tough & rough - well we have our share...

110 degrees in phoenix? Just drive 2 hrs north to Flagstaff and it will be less than 80 degrees and below 60 degrees at night. Cold enough where we don't camp up there cuz the nights are too chilly.

Or, go to Ann's house for some frigid air conditioning and some iced tea

Ann, can you get a copy of the letter and send it to me? We had a commenter offer some clarification, indicating those who retired early but did not turn 65 by 1/1/15 you would not get coverage.
