I have a pretty good sized landscaping company that I am going to be quoting..besides sending them an e-mail with various questions that I need answered, does anyone have anything a little more professional looking that they would be willing to share that I can send over to the client?

If this is the first visit with the prospect I do an informal interview of them. Ask them about the business, how they got started etc...let them talk as much as possible. Find out about the relationship with the current agent. Try to uncover any problems they may have had, open the wounds a little...Find out what the terms are for doing business with the landscaping contractor....What it is that you have to do to earn their business...This is done well in advance of the quoting process. If I quote without having set and agreed to the terms of the process, it seems like I'm just spinning wheels. It is a very hard thing to tell a prospect, Mr. Prospect I dont think it would be profitable( choose whatever word fits) at this time to offer you a proposal on your insurance program. With your permission, I will call you next year to see if things have changed. I dont need practice quoting, my underwriters certainly dont need practice quoting...if the prospect isnt willing to develop a relationship at this time, I move on. To me it is more valuable to have developed a series of interview questions to determine if a prospect is willing to consider moving his insurance program with me, or if he is just keeping his agent honest, or a myriad of other unacceptable possibilites that all amount to wasted effort, than to have a professional looking questionaire to fill out.

I think your marketing reps with your carriers could help you with that anyhow.
