Good FMO - what Does It Look Like?

What is a good FMO? How do they help you or is it how do they support you? Do you want more or less help? I am new in this industry and want to know what the general consensus is.

Here is some of what I would look for:

Upfront releases
Competitive rate of commission
Good selection of carriers
Answers the phone and quick to get back to you
Processes paperwork quickly and efficiently
Able to answer questions and help solve problems as need arises

That's pretty subjective. What do do you need from an IMO/FMO?

Do you need leads?

Do you need training and support?

Do you just need a contract?

Many agents don't need and IMO/FMO and many couldn't function without one.

Sometimes you can get higher contracts by going through an IMO. Sometimes you can get higher contracts by going direct. Some companies won't contract agents direct. Some will.

You have decide what you need and then fit the IMO to those needs. So, "what does a good FMO look like?" Depends.
