Good idea or bad idea?

When I coached my son's soccer team (age group 4-5) a few parents didn't want anyone scoring the game. The argument was the losing team would feel bad.

Yeah...right. We kept score. Winning team got pizza - losing team got a lap around the field.

If you want to live in some fairy tale land where there's no reward for success and no punishment for failure then leave...go find it.

Back in the day (late 60's) I played Little League and Junior League baseball. We hustled. Practiced FIVE hours in a day in July for the upcoming playoffs (we won). Haven't kept up since.

So, coupla years ago, riding around with my wife on a summer evening, decided to pull into a little league park for some "memories". MAN! What a change! Walking on and off the field; sitting down in the outfield; throwing the glove at the ball as it goes by; this, all DURING A GAME. I had to leave. My how things have changed. I believe it. And Obama has won his primary and everyone says he'll win the election. Guess it makes sense.

Not on my teams......

This is about the dumbest idea I've ever heard a web-board owner do. So you want to pit agent against agent to try to determine who is the most popular? Or is it who is the most intelligent? Or is it who is the agent that everyone likes least or hates most?

What does this do for us as a community? It brings us together? It makes for a more cohesive group... one that becomes more accepting of divergent points of view?

No, what it does is help further divide us, it helps to solidify that those who post the most are "right" most of the time... what it does is create splits and divisions in the agent community.

This might be "cool" and "fun" as you see it, but what about all those who are not chosen as "the best." What about all of those who believe strongly in what they believe but who are ridiculed and attacked for those beliefs?

No, Sam. What this is is a nice example of let's see who agrees most with Sam, right? Who is going to be the judge and jury? Me? Yeah, right. In your dreams. It will be you Sam... and why you want to engage in an action that has the propensity and possibility of dividing and creating strife in the online community is beyond my comprehension.

I'll tell you right now who will be the finalists:

John P.
Frank S.
Rick B.
SAI
Chumps
STI

This is a bad idea, in my opinion... which I'm sure is worthless in this venue... but which will probably get me banned for at least short time for expressing it.

Hey Al,

I've been hesitating to address an issue with you but I find myself backed into a corner. I apologize for doing this in public, but it must be said.

You seem to have a problem with telling people exactly how you feel. I'm not sure why, but it appears that you like to hold back on your true feelings and wont allow the other board members any insight into exactly what it is that your thinking or what your viewpoint is.

Might I recommend a few changes in the future? Could you please try to be more direct and feel free to express your true feelings to the members of this board?

Thanks in advance,

Corporate Death.

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool." - William Shakespeare, "As You Like It"

I liken myself, as "the jackass," to be the Shakespearean "fool" of this venue.

While many believe in the Shakesperean normative that
"The better part of valor is discretion,..." - King Henry the Fourth, Part I (Falstaff at V, iv)

... there is always a place... and a need... for the person who can speak truth to power.

That's why Huckabee got so many votes.

Winter

What truth did he speak... and to what power?

His was the same old "If you don't believe in what I believe, you're goin' to hell" message.

Non-Christians have been hearing that for some 2,000 years now... but it never gets old to those who are true-believes... so we keep on hearing it.

He was Billy Sunday in a better suit.

No truth there... and he was preaching to his own choir... and those were about the only votes he got!
