Got my $100 Google Adwords coupon in the mail from Hostgator.

I will create a special landing page that is optimized for ppc traffic.

Any tips from the ppc masters?

Got mine too....they've been hammering me with email blasts and even mailed me the $100 coupon. I'll fire up my PPC again just to use the $100. Why waste it.

I get one a month.....hahahahaha.....did GA deal about a year ago and just cut it off......they keep sending them to me to get me to set up a new campaign.......
 
PPC did exactly what it was supposed to do. Constantly raise the click price in order to maximize revenue for Google. I'm not busting on that. Again, that's exactly what was supposed to happen. The rate reflects what the market will bear.

That said, in most cases it kills the people with small budgets. I'm sure there are exceptions. Not in my case. I watched my campaigns for dead-on relevant terms and great conversion go from $2 to $3 to $5 to $8, etc...which is Google trying to figure out my threshold. I make my campaign inactive - they just send me $100 and hope I'll be stupid all over again.
 
I'm probably one of the bigger Adwords spenders on here, maybe the biggest as an individual who isn't supplying leads to a sales staff ($700-1,000 daily), and my advice is simple: Test, test, and test...

That being said, it's all about your quality score and I'm of the opinion that very, very, very few insurance professionals have what it takes to make money w/ PPC. (PPC is exponentially tougher than SEO).. Especially with most insurance keywords, where the bidding is fairly expensive.

Spend your money on direct mail.

FYI, if your quality score is getting higher (as it should be w/ testing) you will be seeing lower CPCs in the long run.

If you're paying more per click after running your ads for an extended period of time it's because your quality score caught up with you and you're being priced out because your CTR sucks.

You just nailed down another reason why very small businesses or self-employed people have a tough time on PPC. We simply do not have the available time to devote to "test test test."

Google wants its advertisers to take on the very large burden of becoming "ppc experts." That's great if you have the time and resources. I don't.

Great and true advice, it might be better to target keywords specific to an area as well versus broad insurance terms in which you compete with larger firms.....
