Great Article on Dental Insurance

I'm not understanding all the hate towards dental plans. My plan isn't awesome but it does what is needed, to get me to go to the dentist.

The last two years I didn't have dental insurance and sadly I never went. Now I have dental ins. and I have my 2nd appointment coming up next month. I think its a good deal.

$22.30/month
If I just got my 2 cleanings per year without dental ins. that would easily cost me over $200. My cleanings are free so having the extra insurance for fillings and major work (though major work is only 50%) gives me some sort of peace of mind.

Having ins. is getting me to the dentist that I otherwise wouldn't have went and only a small payment comes out of my account every month that I barely notice.

The hate is in me an agent, selling the damn things. Big waste of my time. Usually, the only people to inquire about dental are people that need dental work done today. Not in 3, 6 or 12 months.

$22.30/month

So the agent makes 10%/month?? $2.23?

I might as well sell discount health cards, AFLAC and PrePaid Legal.

Al I would avoid Splenda in my opinion.

Try Apple Cider Vinnegar. Braggs unfiltered organic.

My only comment on this thread is to set the client expectations properly.

Lol true, but in all fairness I never said I care to sell them I just think for the price the coverage is all that bad. The only way I sell one is when I sell someone a med supp and they need dental too. Turns my $19/month into $21/month

I finally got a dental plan this spring, although 100% self insured. I landed a small group dental office six blocks from my house as a client, I make about $800 annually in commissions. Right after they became a client, I switched my records over to them (hadn't been to a dentist in three years) and figure that account is now my dental plan.
