Health Lead Flow

Internet health insurance leads are not a huge part of my marketing plan, but I do buy some.

It seems like the quantity and flow has slowed pretty dramatically from several vendors lately...

Anybody else noticing this phenomenon? What's your take?

It's funny you mention this because 2 sources for me that normally give me 5-10 daily have both given me 0 so far for the day and few yesterday. The few I got yesterday were good leads though, so maybe the companies are slowing down the trade off of leads. (wishful thinking)

yes, slow as in dramatically slow almost across vendors. Some agents who used to receive so much they had to pause their accounts barely get a trickle.

Other agents have had to take more states and sign up with more vendors to get the same amount of lead flow.

People are warning eachother that if they fill out the online form, they will be called hundreds of times in the following weeks.

I have practically stopped buying leads since the quality, and quantity has been so terrible for the last 4 months or so.

Many factors:

*Word does indeed start to spread as time goes by that if you submit for a quote you're absolutely slammed with calls

*As vendors moved to affiliate programs quality had dropped and when ROI isn't there agents and agencies cancel

*The practice of vendors selling leads to other vendors has taken a bad situation and made it worse

*Affiliate are finding it harder to generate solid leads do to Google becoming more strict regarding ad placement

And finally, the more and more health insurance agents you have the less leads there are to go around.

Vendors can try to con, scam and bullshit us as much as they want but when ROI isn't there we all simply cancel which just blows right back on them.

Then it's a catch-22. Less money for the vendors who now scramble to make more and the only way to make more is more lead swaping and more affiliate garbage which causes more agent to cancel.

Also in an attempt to hold onto more profit they tighten up on returns...which causes more agents to cancel.

Want to know what a lead is worth when the prospect isn't looking for health insurance quotes? Zero - and we're returning that junk. Won't credit it? Fine, we'll cancel. I know of at least 10 agents, each spending $400 a week on leads who are all onto marketing their own leads because vendors nit-picked on returns for "dental" and "vision" leads.

I was doing great with ASAP leads until February when they apparently changed what they were doing to include landing pages that linked to ehealth along with even worse, autodialing their leads. They of course denied that this was done to more than a percentage (under 50% apparently - 49%?) but where it used to take about 5-6 exclusives to make a sale, I took 40 leads and got NOTHING.

I will make a general statement here: ALL LEAD COMPANIES ARE CROOKS AND WILL LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL TO GET AN AGENT TO BUY THEIR CRAP.

And I'm holding back.

It all goes to the irony of the situation. They implement these things designed to do nothing but boost their profits yet it harms ROI and they lose agents.
