Health Sherpa 2016 Open Enrollment

Can't use sherpa for cat plans or child only plans ......... Right?

I'm seeing CAT-plan quotes for under-age-30
I'm also getting Child-ONLY quotes......in Texas.

Have not attempted an app for anyone, though.

----------

I am so THRILLED with what you've done to the client facing HealthSherpa.com-2016! It's even better than HealthSherpa.com-2015 now.

In addition to the major enhancements and revisions your team made on Thursday and Friday, thank-you for today's enhancements of...

2. Showing Per Person deductible and MAXIMUM OUT OF POCKET on each quote image.

-Allen

I wish I was seeing what you're seeing, Allen!

On my "client facing" quotes:
- I'm only getting Per FAMILY Deductibles (when I quote a family).....NO MOOP at all.
- I DO see the Per PERSON deductible when I quote a single person (with no dependents).

On my "agent dashboard" quotes, I'm seeing:
- Per PERSON deductible & Per Person MOOP....for a single person
- Per FAMILY deductible & Per Family MOOP......for a family

I, too, am thrilled to get MOOP (in right spot) for "agent dashboard" quotes.
Wish my clients could see that on their side, too.
It's SUCH a time saver!!!.....& SO helpful for QUICK selection-of-right-plan!
I don't think I'll see ONE self-serve app this year, though....from my Sherpa link.
The "client facing" site is much more confusing (to me) than last year.

Issues I'm seeing on the client-facing side:

  • System allows medicaid eligible single applicant to choose a plan (also says "eligible for CSR" and shows all plans with a premium of $0) and go through the application process to submit.
  • With income above medicaid levels, plans page doesn't load, just hangs on doctors page, or is blank screen.
  • If plan page isn't blank or hung, shows plans from all carriers, even though I have my carriers selected.
  • Shows family deductibles with no MOOP.
  • Editing age/income only recalcs subsidy amount about half of the time.

I can't put a system that unreliable in front of my clients.

How do i find my dashboard? Its not showing up at all nor is there a link to it, I would like to share my link if I can locate it.
Thanks for any help

Not showing individual deductible (when quoting 2 or more persons) is a concern. Potential customers will see that and assume the plans we are showing have higher deductibles than perhaps the same identical plan they saw somewhere else.

Health Sherpa if you could confirm:

1) I can use HS to lookup a prospect that applied on FFM in 2015?

2) With HS I can edit any changes in income, address, etc?

3) With HS it will take the prospects 2015 FFM info carry-it-over to do a 2016 FFM app

4) thru HS will it cancel the prospects 2015 FFM plan if they are enrolled in a 2016 FFM plan?

I just compared HealthSherpa with ACAExpress:

1. Health Sherpa - you enter the zip code first, ACAExpress, you pick year (2016 or 2015) first.

2. Both come up to a screen pre-loaded with age 30 or 35, and the quotes for that person show up immediately on that page.

3. However, with ACA Express you would have to put in your zip code now, and with Health Sherpa you would have to go back to the agent dashboard if you wanted 2015 plans.

4. for both, that first screen has a place to input a new age, household size, and income.

5. I input 42M, 42F and $40,000 MAGI, HH size of 2, zip code of 85015

6. Sherpa says $160 subsidy, ACAExpress says $228.65 subsidy, hc.gov says $157.97 subsidy. I did a quick manual calculation, and I come up with $159.07. However, to be fair, I had run some other scenarios earlier and it was the other way around where ACAExpress was accurate, and Sherpa had a completely different number.

7. Sherpa shows FAMILY deductible, ACA Express shows individual deductible, and both show MOOP, although Sherpa's is family and ACA is individual. So, for instance, Sherpa will show $13,700 while ACA shows $6850 per person. By the way, hc.gov shows Family ($13,700 in this example).

8. Both show the full premium under the net premium, in a lighter font. ACAExpress also shows it crossed-out, which is nice.

9. Both show details like copays for Dr., Specialist & Generic Rx, although ACAExpress goes further and shows Brand Rx. I must say that Sherpa's quote images (the box that holds each individual quote) look nicer. I applaud ACAExpress for using nearly the whole page instead of just the right half of the page like Sherpa does, but the font tends to be too large so that the sentences run into each other.

10. Both have links to more details. For Sherpa, it is buttons at the bottom of each quote image, and for ACA it is a "more details" link on each quote image. Both send you to links for plan brochures, provider networks, and SBC's. Also, both redirect you to the actual carrier, so you get the carrier's updated version of these items.

11. I quickly deleted the spouse from the census. Both ACA & Sherpa let you do this with one click. The subsidy changed immediately on ACAExpress to $0 (which is correct), but it didn't change at all on Sherpa (it was still showing $160 at the top as the subsidy). To be fair to Sherpa, the premiums for the plans did not reflect a subsidy. On healthcare.gov, I clicked "edit" and had to go back through a bunch of screens to delete the spouse, but when I did the results were $0 subsidy.

Keep in mind that changes are still being made regarding carriers and plans (ex. Meritus will not be on exchange but was still showing up in the dataset released by HHS the other day). That might be one reason for differing results. Also, are you accounting for EHB percentages? The only place I know to get that is the federal data set. However, that should typically be a very small factor in the results. It is uncommon for a low cost plan to have any significant amount of non- EHB benefits. But something to consider when you are getting slightly different results.

The rates in Florida for Sherpa are all wrong. You have to go direct to the carrier to get a valid rate.

ActuaryGuy, thank-you for pointing that out! I did not account for non-EHB benefits!

In this case, the exiting of Meritus won't change the 2016 subsidy results, because they no longer have the SLCSP in AZ for 2016.

I'm seeing wrong rates everywhere too. I'm only trusting the carrier-direct quotes at this time!

Is anyone having issues with Sherpa's 2016 plan screen being blank, as in nothing on it when you click to continue after the doctor selection screen?

I, and my entire team are getting this both on the consumer-facing side and when trying to quote from the dashboard for 2016.

We're getting the same result in Chrome, Firefox, & IE.
