HHS Marketplace / Exchange Stakeholder Conf Call

By the way, I have chosen the term "private market" instead of "outside the Exchange" when talking to my clients.

Thanks for the verbage tip Ann! "Private Market" denotes exclusitivity and privilege, which is perfect for those who earn too much $$ to qualify for subsidies.

yes it will... how can we quote a price without knowing the subsidy number? so yes, 2 step process.

Right On TaterDude. I'll direct clients/prospects to first go to WhereMyObamaMoney?.guv and then proceed to help them apply for a plan based on their subsidy allowance.

Hopefully the system will allow the applicant to insert a Qualified Agent into the flow at any point of process!

Hopefully the system will allow us to start the app, then save it. If so, you could enter the contact information for the client, and mark yourself as broker, save the file, then give the client a link or else a username/password so they can input the financial data.

I think it will be important for us to not lose a client due to the online system. If I need to walk them through the entire app, it would be better than losing the client. (well, some clients, LOL). Previously, our time was spent on medical underwriting and plan choice, and now it will be financial underwriting and plan choice.

What do you know? Brokers like dealing in factual statements, rather than vague, unproven language.

You know, kind of like we have to do when we sell a policy, unlike unlicensed navigators will.

Actually, now I have refined my verbiage. HHS has decided to drop the name "exchange" and use "marketplace'. So I'm calling the exchange the "government run marketplace", and I'm calling the market outside the exchange the "private market". Subtle, but clear.

Where do these people come up with these names?? Frickin bureaucraps don't have a marketing bone in their bodies

Dayton signs health exchange law, creating 'MNSURE' | Minnesota Public Radio News
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Mark Dayton Wednesday signed into law historic and controversial legislation enacting the centerpiece of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
The legislation creates a new marketplace for health insurance, which the administration has given the name,"MNSURE." Starting in October, more than a million Minnesotans, including 300,000 uninsured, are expected to shop -- and sign up for health plans using MNSURE.
