How Can I Become a Successful Insurance Agent?

First of all, you must know your stuff extensively. Then, you should be aware of current events and your competition.

Lastly, you must know how to communicate! It's fairly generic actually.

1. Determine what TARGET PROFILE of a client you want to pursue.
2. Find a compatible company that will support your efforts and have products that fit for that market.
3. Take LUTCF classes that focus in the market that you want to pursue. LUTCF Insurance Skills :: The American College

The LUTCF courses will help you DRAMATICALLY increase your effectiveness in sales & marketing of insurance services - particularly life, annuity, estate planning, business planning.

I just passed my business insurance LUTC class, and it was a GREAT class! Now, I knew almost all of the technical stuff, but the sales & marketing ideas were PRICELESS.

Make sure that any company you go with, they should reimburse you for your costs for the LUTC classes regardless of your production.

I'm just imagining the tremendous waste of money and time this guy just went through in order to sell life insurance.

Depending on how your education was financed, be careful with your student loans! It may take a while (1 or 2 years) before you are making big buck$.

Have you thought about what type of insurance you want to focus on? Or more of investment-type (annuities/funds) sales?
