How Far Do You Work from where You Live?

I'm curious what is the advantage, if any, of working at some of the distances you guys have mentioned? 75 to 200 miles from home.

The clients don't see their insurance agent jumping over a bonfire while intoxicated at a local field party. Not that any of us would ever do that.

I think with the price of gas, etc. it is important to factor these investments into the value of a lead.
One hour each way for a $112 monthly term life policy? Sure.
One hour each way for a PDP? Pass.

I second. Even though I don't work much FE, I think it translates. I try to weigh out the cost/benefit. One new MA @ $400 or so is worth a half-hour or hour drive. It doesn't take long to get onto the rural areas here. You guys in the big city may take longer just to get to work.

What I'm hearing is that some of the successful FE guys get appointments in the same area for the same day. If I can schedule 3 or 4 Med Supp and MA appointments within an hours drive and close 2, I'm good.

I've read on here some guys will take a couple of days, get a hotel room and really work the area. OK, I know that sounds bad, but you know what I mean.

Some operate under the principal that "a prophet is without honor in his hometown" and in the case of some agents I have know, it is true.

 I have a bad memory for faces so I hate feeling like I should know someone and not sure if i do. Easier to not run into clients.

That and there is more money North and South of where I live.

I am currently working on one that is in the area of 7,000 mile away.
