How has covid-19 affected your insurance business?

Spoiler alert! It appears that it does. Our agents in the field this week had to remind the people to social distance on the appointments. And had to stop them from shaking hands, etc. The feedback is the agents are more concerned with it than the applicants.

I suppose a mutual agreement appointment helps rather than splashing everyone's door with the covid.
Do any of them post on the forum these days?

Been working my own book and happy with placing folks who I have worked with before.

That said, I did venture out one day this week and knocked some cold doors (no leads) - @Newby is right. It's a thing in our own mind.

I was even approached as I knocked and was asked if I could stop by and set a family up by one person.

Ready to go full bore... how ever my particular governor is and ***.

I had an agent to write $9496.68 this week, all field sales. Last week he wrote $6544.20 all field sales. He's also 66 and outworks everyone else on my team (except me). He gets a few people saying call us back in a couple of months because of the virus (setting appointments and doing drive by's), but a % of these would be saying call us back in a couple of months if we did not have covid. He blends appointments and drive by's. I'm not saying he's right or wrong with this method, just sharing some facts with you.

I also have another agent write $5741.40 this week, all telesales. Never cranked his car up! Last week he wrote 0. This was his first week doing telesales. He did have 3 houses with premiums in the $80 range because of husband/wife combos which helped his production total. He's excited as can be expected!

Imo's got stuck with a ton of DM on fixed cost leads. Are agents going to restart their fixed cost mail or wait a while to see how things go ?

I seldom order DM leads but I did in late February.. Guess when they came in? Right after the "Shelter in Place" orders. Kept waiting as I wanted to call F2F as normal. I guess, I will finally call them next week... Glad I didn't spend a lot on them.

So far it's mixed. The agents just going out are sitting on a ton of leads. So 2/3 of ours have not restarted full orders yet. We let them stop paying for leads as soon as they stopped going out in the field. I didn't want agents to feel pressure to go out to pay their lead bill. So we just assigned the leads and billed it against their deposit.
So they all shut down as they saw the time was right to. And they will resume when they feel the time is right to. Probably just 1/3 or so are back in the field this week. Only had one agent that did over a $10,000 week and he hit over $12,000.

But there is a ton of mail readily available at every IMO currently.

1st of all I am not 100% FE. But, that part of my business as fallen off a bit. I have written 3 plans since the outbreak. Granted, there were times that is all I would have written anyways. Now, I have written other lines of business since this too. Plus, I have had 3 group health plan renew since the outbreak.

Going forward: Planning on going back face to face with the FE. I might still do a few tele sales but I really enjoy face to face.

Basically, I am taking care of my current lines of insurance. I am blessed to have a substantial amount of renewals. I want to keep it that way.
