How is Social Media Relevant with Insurance Sales Today?

Arthur, Social Media is obviously important in today's world. We have learn that we must stay connected with our clients. The Holidays are coming up and it is the best time to remind them you appreciate their business.

Staying connected has been easier than ever before with social media. Many people tend to forget some older tools and use Facebook or Twitter. Remember that when you make it a personal message it adds more value.

So sending letter or postcard add huge value. If you think that is too expensive then, maybe you want to use an Email Marketing Tool.

You can add all your clients to your database and utilize it to thank everyone by name. You will be able to communicate with all your clients with one message.

Plus this tools allows you to see your success rate by measuring who open the email and who click on the links.

My question w/social media is ROI. How much time does one have to spend to see a sell? For example, if I see 3 mortgage brokers in one hour I will make at least one sale by next week ( that is a very low estimate, just using as an example). So my question is how many labor hours = one sale? If six hours = six policies, now you have my attention. I have never seen a positive ROI w/ social media but always interested.

The marketer's ROI or your ROI? Your ROI will most likely be zero unless you really go for it and go for it big.

Haa- yea- a marketers ROI is great because they would be making money off me..... Would love to see the real numbers regarding profitability/ ROI on social media.

In my opinion, is social media is extremely difficult to yield a positive ROI unless you spend money. Advertising on social media is what adwords was like 7 years ago - awesome! It's low cost with high returns.

But sitting around trying to get people to like your page and posting things like "happy holidays from your insurance agent" is a waste of time.

I know it is quite obvious but I would like to know your best practices in making use of Social Media for your marketing and lead generation...

Any opinion or advice would be greatly valued!

I think it is important to have a consistent message on all of your formats (facebook, linkedin, website, twitter, etc..). If one changes, change them all. If you do not use it, you are not going to reach professionals who use the internet for everything (such as young architects, engineers, and developers). I do not try to generate leads on these sites, but I did have a friend message me privately on facebook recently, and say, "Hey, I heard that you sell insurance, I need some insurance", and it led to us doing business together over the telephone, and via e-mail. Facebook is just another form of communication.
