How Many in 30 Days?

20 hr days X 7 days = 70 apps done so far for me. Exhausted is an understatement. Being there for all of my clients is impossible. 14 appts booked tomorrow, and 10+ on Sunday, every hour on the hour from 7am to 8pm. I don't see it slowing down until my honey calls me down for Turkey.

Total marketing costs = $0

I'm slacking. I only have 10 this weekend.

Whats a marketing cost??? I had a guy call me today asking if I wanted to buy leads and I started laughing at him.

7 days in. We get a day off 5 days from now. Head down. Push through.

I'd go nuts with that kind of schedule! Eight apps for me this week (4 Health / 1 Life / 2 Critical Illness / 1 Injury) and I'm happy as a lark. Most for me in a single week since 2009.

I'm giving the leads that are younger (read: less profitable) prospects to the newbies in our office.

I layed about 75 11 per day and one day short but 15 today... might be 80 this week..... we be slamming wish I was latin..... 5 bucks the latin dude comes behind me to smell my post........

got a weading tomorrow... what fool gets married during ObamaCare enrollment, im pissed

I've done 50 new and rewrites and renewed another 30 this week, each of them required a conversation because of the rate increases. Add the 25 MAPD in the prior month and it's just been way too busy.

It's really bizarre how you can spend 20 minutes with two clients who live together and write 2 subsidized apps for over $1K in annual commissions and then have to spend an hour waiting for someone to convince themselves to enroll in an Aetna plan for $21 a month.

As of today I have eliminated the $21 monthly commissions from my portfolio unless it's a long time client, they can go enroll directly through the Marketplace or find another agent or add on supplemental benefits.

I will probably wind up with 75-80 new or rewrites before December 15th and probably get more new ones than expect between December 15th and February 15th (my business plan just has 20)-I'm fine with all of this, I'm not in a competition to be the biggest producer.

Drop business cards in all the women's purses. ;)

I don't want to post this is either the ACA Express or Sherpa threads but I haven't used either one for a single app so far.

I tried a couple through Sherpa the first day of OEP and, because of the issue with the FFM password, neither was processed. Additionally, one of them had an issue because of a special situation and nothing was done for several days.

I like being in charge and reading the eligibility letter in real time and not relying on a third party unless it is a perfectly clean solution so decided to master the carrier direct connection process and make it as quick as possible. I've done this and average about 10 minutes for an individual policy and about 30 minutes for a family policy with kids (the healthcare.gov application has a bunch of really dumb questions to complete).

Neither of these processing times is a killer for me so I don't miss the 3rd party capability. I don't prospect (everything is referral) so there isn't much else to do but follow up with my existing clients and wait for the phone to ring.

Here are some of my time reducing tips:
  • The first obvious one is set appointment times and prepare your client. I ask each of them to complete an information form with everything needed to complete the application in advance so we aren't wasting time during our appointment.
  • Use join.me or another screen sharing service-I enrolled in the join.me Premium service ($134 for a full year) so now I have a permanent link for sharing that I can send in advance.
  • Zoom out to 75% on the healthcare.gov application-it eliminates scrolling down every page
  • Pre-fill the Marketplace application before the appointment (I do these the night before) if you know which plan is boing chosen so all that has to be done during the screen sharing is the review, electronic signature, and completion of the plan enrollment-this typically takes 10 minutes with the client so I can space these sessions 20 minutes apart and get 10 done in a few hours.

Two more:
  • Don't answer the optional questions with the exception of the Social Security number, this is a big time saver
  • When income is requested, use monthly income wherever possible, the system doesn't like annual income (unless that is the only choice) and may miscalculate the subsidy

My average monthly premium is $687 so far-if I assume 6% commission (many of mine are in the 8-9.5% range) that is about $500 per application. I certainly have 1 hour of my time to generate this revenue so am comfortable keeping my independence and feeling 100% sure the app will get processed and I will get paid (although Sherpa did successfully process two apps on a sEP for me before they shut down the system).

This process won't work for every situation but it works for me and I hope is helpful to some of you as well

This year is amazing and most clients are staying on the same plan, only switching carriers if there's a reason to...

Scheduling a meeting every hour, yet most are taking 30-45 min, time to take short calls in between.

Worked 81.5 hours of actual meeting time in first 7 days.

The WA State Exchange is working fairly well. Hired someone to fix issues. Also have one additional hourly producer that's doing a great job!

Doubled my book of biz last year, will be a 50% increase this year...

I'm just about finished 'only' another 10 apps to go to get through everyone with whom I've made a commitment.

My numbers to date: 150 new applications (over 200 people), renewed another 40 applications, and found time to squeeze in 25 Medicare.

That's more than my goal and, from this point forward, I'm going to a normal work schedule (after this weekend and Monday), this is way too much effort in such a short period of time.

I figure it will take me two weeks to make sure everyone has their policy and has paid their premium, then get all the documents into the Marketplace that are required in early January.

If I do 1-2 apps a day for the rest of OEP that will be just gravy and give me a very, very long vacation come February 15th.

How does everyone else feel?
