How Much Do You Pay for Your Website?

The domain and the website are just the beginning. What you do after that is what counts. It's hard work but if you read, listen, learn, work harder than your competitor and ignore so called "experts" that aren't really "experts,"...you will do well.

But it does not happen overnight.

Awesome Ed

Best Advice ignore the "so called experts" that aren't really "experts". Talk is cheap and it's easy to regurgitate the buzz words.

You can have the best SEO in the world, but if your website sucks it wont matter.

Focus on what is on the website, instead of trying to get on top page of google.

Blue Host is a good domain and hosting site as well. Think it is $10 per domain for the year and $6 or so per month for hosting. They offer a lot of free tools and themes as well so it is fairly simple to put your site together.

I was having issues with Godaddy shared hosting and some of my sql databases, but they moved me to another server that uses the 4gh thing and I've not had another problem since. Cost me like $5 a month when I paid for the entire year and waited 1 week before it expired and got a discount code from them.

You can start with things that make sense. When a SEO expert says it's going to take time and effort to get true rankings, that makes sense.

When a SEO "expert" say "pay me $XXX" dollars, then just sit back and watch your site hit page 1, that doesn't make sense - avoid.

Here's an article that pretty much nails it: ProducersWeb - 5 reasons search engine optimization is harder than you think - this is not a "don't bother with SEO" article, just one that lets you know it's not easy.

The intro of this story nails it - there's indeed a myth that you build a "good site" then turn this knob, press this button and pull that level what wham, you're on page 1. Incorrect.

The bitter truth is it's relatively easy to rank for search terms that don't drive a lot of traffic. However, the more competitive the term, the harder you're going to work and the longer it's gonna take.
