HSAs and HMOs?

And all this just in time for the November elections. Thank you Obama for this gift.

The Reps have a golden opportunity to make Obama a 1-term President, but they are showing signs of screwing everything up. Boehner's latest statement on how Reps are looking to push SS benefits up to age 70 is a sign of that.

Boner's idea is what is needed. His timing sucks.

The Dems floated out raising the starting age to 67 a few years back but it died when the budget was finalized. No one up there has the balls to do what is needed.

I believe HSA-qualified plans will be available only inside of the exchanges. If you look closely you'll see that the maximum out of pocket allowed coincides with HSA limits.

Not really a coincidence.

I think the only plans available outside the exchange will have higher out of pockets than HSA maximums, and none will qualify for subsidies, etc. Plus, carrying one of those plans apparently will subject you to the "penalty" for not carrying a more costly plan, i.e. an exchange plan.

What a freakin' mess.

Thanks Harry!

And your not going to see them getting the courage...Look what this is doing in Greece moving up the age from 55 (must have been nice while it lasted).

From this morning's NAHU newsletter.............
Some Conservatives Fear Obama Administration Will Seek To Destroy HSAs.

CQ HealthBeat (7/10, Adams, subscription required) reported, "Health savings accounts, tax-preferred accounts used to pay medical bills, have been controversial since they first came into practice in the 1990s. They are the brainchild of conservatives who like the idea of giving people both a tax break and the ability to choose the kind of healthcare coverage they want." Therefore, many Republicans were surprised that the new healthcare "law did not ban the plans," although "some conservatives are now convinced that the Obama administration will find a way to gut the accounts, and are maneuvering to protect them." Still, a nonpartisan industry consultant said, "It sounds great to say that HHS will try to blow up HSAs but I don't see it happening."

Talked with a rep from BC recently asking opinion on how they will price the GI issue, raise rates on just kids or spread over all, he said he thought it would be spread over all.
