Humana VS Aetna

I'll chime in

Although I can't speak to SC, I can speak to MI

I'm also in my 3rd full AEP. Technically my 4th, but I didn't do much in 1st considering i was just getting contracted and wasnt even fully invested in it yet.

I thought this would be the best AEP ever. Yes, it is busy AF, and I'm writing non stop most days.

Heres how it's going with Humana and Aetna:

Prior to beginning of AEP, the major hospital network in my area is no longer in network for Aetna. Ok, so switch the client and move on.

Then a few days ago, now Humana is no longer in network.
Luckily I moved my Aetna clients to BCBSM.

But what happened to a colleague was she moved her Aetna people to Humana...and you can guess what happened there. Not fun.

It seems quite volatile this AEP. And I just shake my head when the FMO calls about "building and not moving people" or when they offer large amounts of coop money....yah, right....too busy working with currents.

And then I'm told, well the hospital network will bill out of network, then oh the affiliated doctors office says, yes they will but only until July 1st.

Ummm, ok, my heads on a swivel to keep poachers at bay and trying to navigate the landmines....

Still this is why we get paid better than some other jobs....right? Right!

The good news is we are almost half way done.

And on the medicaid issues, yes, same here.....many don't have a card and generally can be taken up with the billing to add the medicaid. I've had one occasion though where I had to walk myself into the facility with a client in tow and talk to them myself about why is the medicaid not being billed as secondary.....got it fixed. Sometimes perseverence goes a long way. I did that one bc the doc office is not far from my house and neither was the client, and I live in a small rural community where this would be acceptable.

Yay!! Half way done....until you know, OEP begins until Mar 31st, which imo is going to be a cluster E#$#% as well.

Welcome to the suck. This AEP has arguably the biggest chaotic nightmare that I've ever seen, and I've been in the business for 8 years. I'm lucky enough to have not been hit hard (I live in a super metropolitan area), but I genuinely feel for the agents that did.

I can't even imagine switching someone because their hospital network is out-of-network and then they go out of network with the new company. The good news is Trump is back in and things will stabilize shortly.

He's a businessman. All business people know he is great for business and he breeds confidence. Just look at the stock market...damn-near all healthcare and insurance sectors shot up. Agents, doctors, hospitals, and such all know relief will be coming soon.

The bulk of this is being caused by the supposed "Inflation Reduction Act" from the Dems, as well as much tighter star ratings requirements, which have taken a tone of money away from the insurance companies.

It was way too drastic and extreme and sucked way too much money out of the insurance/medical arena. In my opinion, it is a deliberate controlled demolition of Medicare plans.

I agree.

And on the moving people because out of network... This small rural area I work...gotta love facebook. It's circulating on both Aetna and Humana that these changes are coming. I don't chime in I just watch it.... I don't even do facebook, at least not for marketing, but small towns news spread like wild fire. they wanna move, I'm here for it. Itll be good for me, along the way I'll double clients.

Thank GOD relief is coming. I think the same way...as does 90% of my clients as we are in solid Trump country here. Im in Michigan and happy to be as far away from Wayne county as I can be. And soon enough back to the places the sun shines year round...

Going to pick up many more clients bc of it. Calls are steadily flowing in without me saying a word, others are sending them to me.

Side note: 80 yr old client called me a minute ago and says, "what in the world is going on, is this bc of those democratic policies and all the immigrants coming in taking up our resources!!" Oh man, I try to not talk much and respond mostly neutral and agree and laugh with her at her spunky young attitude. She's one of the smart people and has always refused meds....not surprising she looks and acts 60....
