I Have an "in" at a Huge Retirement Condo but I Am New to This...

Just a wag, but how many folks in a retirement village want to talk about dying?

Thanks for all the tips guys. Yeah getting licensed is step 1. I guess for me it's a question where to go from there. I agree with a lot of you guys. Jumping right into that condo could blow up in my face. Even if there are some interested prospects I could blow the entire sale but not knowing my stuff.

So let me ask you guys for the best advice on that. Where can I get good training? When I sign up with HCO will I have access to tons of training material? What about a website like finalexpense101.com that advertises it does nothing but show you how to sale FE and offers tons of training material.

I know you learn the most from just doing it but there is another question....when does that happen? Ok I get my license, sign on with HCO, learn the material, then....buy leads? Is that the best route to go?

Lincoln Heritage is having a seminar next week here locally (they advertised it on craigslist). Perhaps it would be beneficial for me to go see what it's all about.

You probably have the right idea, but from the responses here, you are finding out you are mixing up products and target markets.

You'll need a few more tools in your utility belt to do this. Not just final expense, but life insurance products. Add in some annuities. Have an experience person on tap in case someone wants to get into estate planning.

Write a few policies before you go down this road. A bit of experience can go a long way to making this a successful venture.

One other product you probably want to add is a good SPWL. IF they have money, a final expense policy probably makes a lot less sense then a SPWL/SPUL policy.

Definitely not a goldmine ... A goldmine is like when the HR director of a large company refers every retiree and job changer to you exclusively for their 401k rollovers ... that's a goldmine.

FinalExpense101.com is a great place for FE training, however, you'll want to learn more products as you go.

HCO is a marketing outfit that dealt mainly with major medical. When that part of the industry started to change, they started to expand their portfolio to include more life insurance, final expense, and med supps. They certainly are not experts in the senior market. My personal experience with them a few years ago was a nightmare!

Stay far away from LH!!

If I knew what part of FL you were in, I might could direct you to a good agency there that can do some hand-holding to get you started on the right track.

if they would let you do an on going insurance articles, besides the ad. this would give you credibilty, annuities, med subs, etc
