I Have Been Hanging Around and Decided It's Time to Introduce Myself.

Thank you for serving our county!

Maybe you should also sell individual health under 65. These products can generate instant commissions compared with LTC products that have a longer sales cycle. Along with the individual health maybe add some term life sales which can also be a quick sale but long underwriting process.

Maybe go to your local VFW and look for some prospects there that might need additional insurance. I think that might be worth looking into.

jaugusta, thank you for your service. I hope you start making good money. Sorry about the rude idiots in Minnesota, they need to take another class in American History.

Delta76, not sure how you link "liberals" with some scumbags spitting on a soldier.

I was in Duluth MN. Not exactly the most friendly place ever with military.

I've had a few fun nights in that town, mainly drinking beer at Grandma's. It's a fun place to visit between Canal Park and walking the boardwalk up there. Not sure I would want to live there as it's become somewhat of a depressed town since the Iron Range glory days and also the steep hills in the winter. Anyway, I wish you the best!

I wish I could sell to people under 65. I am a captive agent so I believe laws do not allow me to sell other products. I can't even write a health product on myself lol.

I have tried the VFW, but it did get anywhere with it. I need to try it again though.

If any of you guys want to proof read my mailings to see if I should change anything, I would be more then happy to send it to you. I would rather not put it in the open just at the moment though.

Again, thanks for the warm welcome guys.

I am trying to think as far outside the box as I can. There is a kid who is 21 years old working in my office, made nearly 80 grand last year (2008). I am trying as hard as I can to stick it out, this has been a huge shock to me really. I am used to always having money and never worrying, now as a civilian, I just put my last $10 in the gas tank so I can run more appointments. I know this job will pay off in the end, I am a "big picture" kind of guy. It's better to suffer now, make much more money later then getting buy now and only getting buy later. It is scarey when you are a single dad though.

I just left SS. it is a good place to learn and get trained but the only people there making $80k is the managers and trainers. stay until you learn the business they do pay fast on new business about 1 week from submision. are they giving you any leads or making you do the seminar system?

Thae are good about the leads, they give me plenty. My office don't exactly pay fast. It takes me a pretty good while to get the commission.
Whats the seminar system? We don't do any seminars but I wouldn't mind going out and setting some up.

Also, I have no plans on leaving any time soon. I like it at SS. Granted there are things I would like to change, but over all it is a really good outfit in my opinion. I just wish I could offer some more products like health for people under 65.

Right now they are milking the leads from Pyramid, but the MA business dries up in a couple months. SS does have a pretty decent seminar system and I would be surprised if they are not involved up there, but this time of year they are generating leads through Pyramid.

Your experience and perception of how folks think about military seem exactly opposite what I see and know.

BTW, I am ex military, Vietnam era, and even then the antiwar folks rarely openly disrespected us when we went offbase in uniform. I guess it is all in how you perceive things, but in the last few years folks have gone out of their way to show respect to those who served the country, whether or not they supported the politics of the situation.

For about a 2 month stretch before I left, there was 2 guys that lived next to the base, and they would spit at our cars as we left. We were advised to ignore them and have our windows up, it got to the point where they filled assault charges on them, then came the bomb threat after that.... chee, I wonder who that was lol.

That area for the most part was anti military

What region are you with? who is the branch manager? each region is ran diffrently my region does seminars but the cost is expensive some regions due mailers. the seminars is not all it is cracked up to be anymore. worked well for awile.

Region? I am not sure. I am in Johnson City, Tyler Mackie is my branch manager. Great guy to work for. Our office is less than a year old, I bet if I wanted to do some seminars they would take care of it.
