I like most of you

There are some on here that did know Frank personally. I didn't. I spent a good bit of time on the phone with him though. Not one person has ever said anything bad about Frank...until now. Do you really expect us to change our minds about him just because someone comes on here and tells us his opinion and what "he's heard" through the grapevine? Get real!!!

UA might have gotten replaced a lot (I replaced a good many myself), but they had to be sold before you could replace them. So don't say Frank wasn't selling any because premiums were too high. Your logic is not very logical. Next subject, please.

The first medicare supplement policy I ever sold in my life back in the early 80's was a United American medicare supplement. I had no leads, no lists, and no addresses just balls and a 60 % first year commission General Agents United American direct contract. On my first day the plan was a lame one but glory be to the gods it was gold. My plan was to hop in my 1974 Gran Torino and drive 150 miles out in to the middle of nowhere and then start knocking on houses that looked like old people lived in them. I would slowly work my way back to Omaha from small town to small town was the plan! I rolled out of town at 8am in the morning and headed North to Norfolk NE 125 miles away. When I got to Norfolk I stopped at Bonanza and porked down for lunch. At 1 pm I got to my first small town and spotted my first door I would go hit. I knocked on the door and nobody was home. I was going to go to another door around the block but said heck with it and drove to the next town. Got to the next town and drove around a few minutes and left for the next town. Went to 4 or 5 more towns and drove around and never even knocked on a door. Finally its 5pm and I'm back to about 60 miles form Omaha and I'm saying to myself "You are so lame and disgusting that you have knocked on only 1 door and drove 300 miles to do it. I told myself that before I tucked tale and ran I had to go beat on 1 more door. I pulled into this little dump of a town population 125 called Octavia. I drove up to a house and knocked on the door and an old lady answered it. I said I'm here to explain the changes in medicare to you. She says we already got supplements and we are happy. I said I'm not here to sell you a supplement, truthfully I'm here to sell you nursing home insurance. Next thing I know shes inviting me in and me and her husband head for the kitchen table. 2 hours later I am sitting there just having wrapped up the sale with a 2000 dollar check in my hand just about ready to go and I look at the old man and his beady eyes are looking at me and his pointer finger is tapping on the jacket of what looks like an insurance policy. I say whats that and he said "Its our Medico medicare supplement policies and they are due at the end of the month and they just went up can you help us on that?" I say yes and an hour later I have just sold them both United American cadallac plans paid up for 1 year. It was mid December and when I got home I told my girlfriend "Just made 3000 bucks today honey how would you like to go Christmas Shopping down in Kansas City this weekend." She said yes and we went and blew 800 bucks in KC. From that day on me and United American were best friends for the rest of the 80's. I never met anybody in my life that loved United American or sold as much of it as I did. I know United American like few others.

While I'm not a UA fan, in some areas they have one of the lowest prices Plan N supps around. And at least in CA nobody touches their HDF.

See, I was able to make my point in two sentences rather than a book without paragraphs like the jackass poster above this.

You don't know much about United American that explains why it only took you 2 sentences. That and in the 80's you were not even in the insurance business!

Finally! You have posted something we can agree on. Those were the glory days. High first year commission, submitting nets and over 80% of the business was written on annual basis. People readily opened the door to strangers canvassing the area and once you sold them one plan, you soon ended up with their med sup , burial, LTC, etc.

Yes, those days are loooooong gone.

Now, see? Except for the last jackass statement about knowing UA like few others (and no paragraphs), that was a great, enjoyable, road warrior story. You should have started out posting this kind of stuff instead of slamming a man's beloved memory!

BTW, I live close enough to throw rocks at the UA home office from my house. So maybe I know them even better than you!
