20 years in the business and about twice a year I get a client who receives their policy and calls me how upset they are because I sold them a life insurance policy when they specifically said they were looking for a burial policy- Some people get it, and some don't.. This last client? A retired engineer now working claims for a shipping company inspecting damaged containers.. I tried everything- crayons and construction paper, sock puppets... it just didn't sink in-

You can't help that if you explain it clearly to them and they still don't get it its just a "yes" disguised as a "no".

Did you tell them it was life insurance before or after you sold them the policy?

Take their paperwork and write BURIAL across in bright red crayon?
Some of the Lincoln Heritage agents around here write in a bold black marker on the outside of the policy folder: "Burial Plan" or "Funeral Plan" or something like that. I would normally think that was a great idea, except that they so often mislead people into thinking they've purchased a pre-need arrangement. Everything about the FCGS paperwork is designed toward that deception, IMO.
