IMO Advice

Hi,

I just recently got my Life and Annuities license. Currently, I got with a company which I will not name that does work at home ads through Craigslist. They would allow me to work part time being I have a full time position and can not currently afford to walk away. The company required a deposit of 500 plus dollars for so called training and lead purposes with the ability to get it back after five transactions. I have been receiving leads for the past month and they are worthless. They are not warm leads and the scripts only seem to offend the end users. Needless to say I have not gotten a sale from those leads. Buying leads are expensive and I find it hard to find a lead provider with exclusive leads that are reasonably priced. That being said, I am at this point willing to walk away with the loss of the deposit, but I need to either find a legit virtual agent company with access to great rates or an IMO which has all the same tools with minimal overhead.

I understand by reading other posts on this forum that its frowned upon to do Life insurance part time, but this economy we must be very careful not to mention being able to afford the hardship of starting out. I do plan to get fully running and once that occurs I would like to do this Full time working over the phone Life insurance agent.

If you can recommend a company that can help me establish myself, or a National IMO which has the tools and access to help me get off the ground in the Life Insurance industry. Sorry for the rambling and thank you in advance for your thoughts!!! :-)

If you want to do tele-sales I would look up Thad Sipple on the FE forum. He might be able to help you.

Is this just FE or multiple lines of Life insurance?

I would like to work with all life insurance products if possible. If I worked with FEX, can you work with other IMO's for TERM and Perm Life Insurance?

Yes. We have term through several carriers and agents are free to write term, UL annuities, med Advantage anywhere they want. We have relationships with FMOs for those products if the agent wants our guidance on them.

We just don't want to be the up line on products that we don't give specific training on. We think the best FMOs should be specialists not generalists.

My logics for wanting not to focus is that I want the ability to point the customer to a product that is best fit for them. In my current career which is Sales Engineer/Solution Architect I take in requirements and point to a product or solution that best fits their (organization) needs. I do support several different aspects of technology as well as vendors. Yes there is shortfalls not specializing in a specific area, but if there are resources in place to fill that gap it does override that handicap.

With specializing I feel that I would be eliminating my ability to be a trusted advisor and losing potential customers. For agruement sake I'm selling just term. I am on the phone with a customer who has a newborn. He or she does well in their career and financially. They do not have a life insurance policy of there own except a small group worth a years salary. Why would I not sell them a UL? Its life insurance and it can build in value. They can use it to help pay for college or buy a house. If I was just selling term, yes I could sell a policy with return on premium, but it still would not be substantial. I'm not saying that my answer is the only correct one. Yes I understand I would be dealing with consumers and not businesses or government entities, but these consumers are decision makers in my environment and would most likely base their decisions on what is the best fit for them and their families. It has been why I've succeeded in obtaining my companies financial goals.

I chose the Life Insurance industry as my new career focus because I could sell a group of products that have value and better people and the families. This is also why I would like to know where I could go from my current insurance group that can allow me to be independent and have the best resources. That would also include administrative. Last, I just want that IMO or organization to specialize in Life Insurance. Sorry for the long rambling.

Yes...a lot of FE carriers have term and UL products...albeit not very competitive outside of RNA's essential life. They also have Sagicor, which has a great non med UL and Single Premium product. In addition I'd probably look up Pinney for some term and UL companies.

IMHO, you need to focus on 1 area and have options for your 1 off cases. From your last post, you seem a bit scattered...in any business that isna sure way to failure.

Get laser focused on 1 product, learn it and then start your progression. Don't try to tackle IUL's, SIWL, ROP term, GUL's and annuities in 1 fail swoop.

I'm going to through the Skipper a bone here...I'd pm TwiLight and get his thoughts. He's probably one of the best sounding boards on this forum, that and he knowsnhis $hit
