For those who order their own direct mailings for FE leads, have you had any success, more or less, with lists that includes the 0 - $15,000 income?

The vast majority of my FE clients are in the under $15000 yearly income. If I didn't mail to them then I woudn't have many clients.
 
I dropped about 2000 pieces to 0-15k households and did terrible.. Most of these folks barely had food by the end of the month...

Sure seems like it would depend on where you are dropping. Rural VA would have to have a different cost of living than say San Diego, CA. I have a son that lives in a lower income suburb of San Diego. His rent for a 3rd floor apartment is about $1,700.00 a month. Not sure what that would be in your market.
 
Excellent point. I guess your best choice is to not prejudice those who fall in that category. The likelihood of that economic group buying FE is no less than the $45K to $55K group.
