Insurance Company termination

I am 63 and completely in disbelief. After 26 years of working on call 7 days, I was let go by an insurance company after I called to do a change on a policy. After 12 phone calls and 1 hour 45 minutes it was done. When I called the underwriter about the problem, he asked what her name was and he would look into it. I told my underwriter I asked her twice her name and she wouldn't disclose. However, if she answered the phone twice you probably don't have to look far....all I can say it sounded like a black woman. Boom!! I was terminated for trying to describe someone?! Anyone have any ideas out there? This is bizarre. People in my age group are fired up. I don't have a racist bone in my body. I coach basketball and 40 percent of my friends and customers are black including one of my very best friends and they agree it's crazy. It took some asking around to finally figure out that was the reason I was let go. The company won't respond to me when I ask why....the letter says terminated due to communication?! This same company if you Google, it says poor customer service! I will not disclose the name of the company until I know it's okay to do so, but I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.

Confused . You called a company about a client of yours to do a change ? What type of change and why did you call an underwriter? What is 26 yrs of working on a call for 7 days?who called you for what and why didn't your know her name?

Yes there was a typo error on the insured's license so I called the company to correct it. This company makes you contact your personal underwriter. (who was off for 3 days) and I needed to resolve the uprate because of unverifiable driving record. I have an agency that deals specifically in auto insurance and I am always on call. A lot of servicing! I asked the person answering the company's phone twice over the span of 12 phone calls her name to no avail. Sorry I probably wasn't very clear.

Ok I understand but if you knew there was a typo error how did you not know her name ?

The original post was indeed confusing! But as I'm understanding it, the customer service rep would not disclose her own name to the agent. When his underwriter asked who he had talked to about the problem, he couldn't answer because she had refused to give her name. So, he tried to narrow the field of possible employees with his description.

My thoughts are had the op said " I don't know her name because she wouldn't give it to me, but she sounded as though she may be African-American," all would have ended well. It sounds as though the op was frustrated, and out of that frustration, he said "well if she answered the phone twice you probably don't have to look far. All I can say is she sounded like a black woman."

In this day and age, no matter how old we are, we have to lead with sensitivity and diplomacy.

No question . You utter one wrong statement perceived as a little racist your gone period . Even thought it's not . Like I say to a lot of people " what's up boy or girl " . If I say that to the wrong person it's not good .

Yes, that is correct I was trying to describe someone who works for the company. I don't have the money for a lawyer and the one's I have talked to say based on their experience, contracts are written favoring those who write them...i.e. the insurance company. So a new agent coming aboard either signs what they give him or he doesn't get the appointment. Someone told me I should have said African-American and yet one of my friends said they would prefer black. Totally confused by all this bs. And it's not anyone of any color, religion, gender, race that I'm upset with...it's whoever came up with the very idea I was being a racist without even ever meeting me, talking over the phone, or asking anyone I associate with to get the real truth. Instead I get an email from someone I have never heard saying I was terminated due to " communication"?! The irony.
