Insurance license-petty theft charge

You stated that you will be getting licensed in a few months. Why not go to your current employer and ask them? Get it over with now that way if the carrier will not, you do not waste the employer and your time.

I tried asking the licensing team here and they said they couldn't help me really and that it was up to the state. I didn't actually say what it was just that it was a concern.

You may want to reconsider, I suggest you go back to the licensing team, and your supervisor and come clean about it, no grey area, tell them the truth. Also, you may want to edit your reply above, specifically the "plus, if they can't license me i'll lose my job" sentence. You are telling me that you are dishonest.

When it comes time to do the licensing im going to bring it up, i was never not going to.

Yeah Im hoping thats my savibg grace but I read that they care about crimes of moral turpitude and branch of trust. So that's what concerns me
Dude. You're sweating bb's about little stuff.

You said that you'd already been hired. All insurance companies are required to do background checks. If they've already run one on you and it didn't come up then, you're probably going to be ok.

As for morals, that can't be a biggy because all of us are still here.

They're looking for felonies, financial crimes, back child support and stuff like that.

I get what what your saying man. But as a rebuttle I believe the background check for the company was 10 years back. This was 13 years ago. I believe the licensing is lifetime check. So it will probably show. So yeah im a little concerned. Im not going to try and conceal it so I guess I just have to wait and see.

Hello all. Im in Florida and I recently got hired on with a big insurance company. I am currently unlicensed. In a few months the company will be using Kaplan to get us license for P&C. 13 years ago I was with an ex gf in a store she stole some things without me knowing and I got a petty theft charge because of it. Again this was in 2010 13 years ago. I went into a deferment, paid a small fine to the store and took a theft class. Will this keep me from being licensed?

Fla the toughest in the nation for theft when licensing . I know a guy that just got turned down . I don't know all the circumstances

You said in your original post that you'd just been hired. How could the background check be 10 years ago?

Sorry man you misunderstood, maybe I wasn't clear on that. What I meant was the background that the company I work for did went 10 years into the past. Does that make more sense?

I will echo what was said Florida is a tough state. They check even immigration status for licensing, most states dont bother. If they say no, you can always get licensed some other state first by taking residency and try applying again in one year. And if you have a background like that, may be having FL as your home state is not a good idea. They are very brutal in applying the law as its written. You could get one complaint and get kicked out.
