Insurance Noodle, NIA, Smartchoice, Etc

I am investigating the use of these companies, are your currently using them or have you in the past? How was or is your experience

A week ago I would have happily endorsed Insurance Noodle, with which I've contracted for years in two different fledgling agencies, and with good service, commissions, markets, it was all good.
But with a new "platform" has come a "re-contract" requirement, and buried in pages of the usual legalese is this:
9.7 The Agency represents and warrants that it shall not seek, apply for or accept an appointment to act as an agent, producer or broker for any of the INSURANCENOODLE or Crump Platform Carriers during the term of this Agreement and for the period of two (2) years following the termination of this Agreement.
This effectively prevents the agent from ever moving into direct appointments, and I can't sign that. I'm shopping again myself.:nah::swoon:

Not sure about your area but in most of the country... Residential sub contractors and homebuilders are surplus lines accounts. The best markets can usually be found through the large surplus lines brokers (Crump, CRC, etc) who will appoint just about anybody with the correct licensing, e&o, etc. If that is your target market, direct appointments are not always necessary.
