Interesting MLR Article

The last time I checked, Apple had too much profit. My math says this represents a $324 refund per person. I'll bet most of those people will buy an Apple IPAD with their newly found money. This is what they call "profit redistribution"

I actually don't see how MLR legislation is legal and really don't understand why AHIP didn't challenge it legally. I don't believe Congress has the power to directly control corporate profits.

I've never seen any industry just lay down and play dead than the health care industry. Must have been a lot of back room deals we'll never know about.

Frankly, I don't know how half the stuff they do in Washington is legal (and it probably isn't). Just on Obamacrap alone

You must buy health insurance.
You must buy the kind of health insurance we want you to have and only that kind.
If you do not buy health insurance, or you do not buy the kind we say you must have, you pay a tax.
If you own health insurance, you must submit a summary of your benefits to the Dept of Benefits Dept for review.

And as for the insurance carriers, they have to cover new benefits not previously covered, issue policies to children that are otherwise uninsurable, pay out 80% of premium dollars in benefits (claims), give refunds if they don't pay out 80%, face public flogging if they ask for a rate increase . . .

This whole thing is nuts.

We will only have a handful of national carriers writing business in the small and individual markets.

I think lawyers make too much money and contribute to the overall cost of products and services in our country.

We need MLRs for attorneys - 80% of all settlements must be paid to the client. Let's see how far that goes.

Great idea - except for the fact the 99.9% of those in Congress are lawyers and they help their own!
