Internet Leads Vs Hiring a Telemarketer

Telemarketing works when a person works for a % commission. That motivates a person to work hard. And I am not sure if it will work if a man promotes an insurance, because when it comes to the telephone marketing gender is what really matters

I'm going to call BS on this one. My best telemarketer is a guy and he's awesome. I also pay him hourly plus bonuses based on SALES (not leads generated). When it comes to telemarketing, it's the personality, the data, the script, the approach, the product, the market, and the phone system. A female may be the icing on the cake, but that even that can hurt more than help depending on the sale.

I think we agree, on my remark I was referring to a bonus strictly on sales.

Sure, a male can definitely work, but if the target is a business market dominated by men, the female voice can have an effect.

My wife's website has a animated pretty blond woman on the front page speaking some directions. For her clientele of insurance execs, it works better than a nerdy male with an accent.

With leads, talent is still going to be the winner, even if the guy talks through his nose.

BTW, do you guys give your telemarketers leads? Or do they call from the phonebook? Generate their own leads? I have been looking for tms around a local college.

Most buy a list. Need to get it screened against the DNC if calling residential.

Phonebook would be ridiculous and potentially dangerous (residential). I buy lists from a list broker and have my telemarketers dial through it using a predictive dialer.

Hiring and training telemarketers is **significantly** more work and more complicated than I think most people think. I honestly think hiring college kids is foolish, but that's just me.

I could not agree with you more on the difficulty in hiring and training telemarketers.
