IPad-using FE Agents

Yes! Love that. I ran random quotes with that for about 2 hours the other night just for fun. Sad, I know. Now, if I could get an fexquotes iPad app that doesn't require an internet connection, I'd be in heaven. The whole 3G hotspot thing with my phone is beyond my level of technological skill for now.

You just tell your phone provider to turn that feature on and it just works. If your phone is near your iPad...you have Internet.

Just so that I am getting this and really don't care if I look like Forest Gump, are you all stating that I can use an Ipad to run quotes, collect the app info, get the signature, and never have to print anything out at the appointment?

The reason being is that I am planning on taking a laptop and small printer with me on the non FE appointments. I have yet to find any of the life carriers (NACOLAH, Midland, etc.) that is Apple friendly.

Thanks for the info,

Ron

What do you mean by not Apple friendly? Their apps DO work on the iPad. Do you mean they won't accept them?

THe way ins companies charge their rates, you would have to make sure and update it all the time.

With most iPad apps that can be used online and offline, they update every time you are on a wi-fi connection. So every day they would automatically update as long as you have wi-fi at your home or office.

Between applications Form Tools ($4.99), Dropbox (free), Splashtop ($2.99; it works just like Go To My PC except it's only a one-time cost of $2.99 with no monthly subscription fee) and a couple of paper brochures and conditional receipts for the old folks with no email, you really have everything you need for any FE appointment.

And Dropbox will let you access your forms offline too, so if you don't have a 3G iPad or you don't have the ability to tether your smartphone to you iPad, you really don't need Splashtop.

I also use a free app called Micromedex Drug Information that can be accessed offline to look up prescription information. Alternatively, if you have wifi or 3G, you can go to drugs.com, or use the drugs.com paid app.

And I efax the pdf app with Ring Central directly from my email. No need for mobile printers, laptops, wires, or really any paper at all.

I feel like I live in the future.

You are the man! Keeping up with future.

Here is another possible stupid question. Some carriers require supplemental forms in certain circumstances (bank draft form, credit card from, etc.). Is there any way to email these forms as an attachment with the application, or do you have to send a separate email? I can't seem to figure out how to do this. It looks like you can send only one form per email. Thanks in advance.

My applications contain every possible form all together. I stack the replacement forms, bank draft, and any other form I would possibly use within the app before I import it into form tools. I also have the fax cover page located as page 1.

When I am done with an app, I e-mail it to myself. When I am back at my PC I review it for completeness and pull any unnecessary pages out of the completed app. I use Paperport or FinePrint for this but there are a million ways to work with PDFs.

Then I fax it in using Ring Central Internet fax.

Getting ready to take the leap and send in some apps done on the IPad. Do any of the FE carriers have a problem doing this way, or is this a non-issue.
