IPad-using FE Agents

Just wondering about HIPAA compliance with all this Personal info flying around cyberspace and being stored forever on Google's servers?

If you don't use Google (Gmail/calendar etc), what DO you use to attempt to safeguard people's private information?

I'm seriously interested, since I need to make a decision about what to use.

Is it a non-issue?

Thanks!

In checking out Splashtop It looks like you can download from their website for free but it's $4.99 from iTunes Ap Store. They do have it in the top 20 ap's for 2011.

I have splashtop on my droid phone and touchpad. Works great with a bit of a lag but nothing too bad.

It's very cool that it's free to have on my laptop so when I travel with it I can still get to my desktop.

Good question.

I know for sure that Dropbox encrypts your uploads, and I believe Ring Central is encrypted too. Form Tools runs on the device, not through an internet connection. I don't typically email apps to myself, rather I upload them to my Dropbox. I'm not sure what the encryption status of gmail and other email services are.

In regards to data security, I work for a regional mortgage company and used to be with Bank of America before that, both companies servers will block the transmission by email of loan applications and other documents, unless encrypted, with social security numbers. Just my .02 cents worth to the discussion!

I'm not set up with an ipad yet, so maybe I'm missing something. But if you take the app and save it on your ipad, can't you just e-fax the pdf to the carrier without ever having to email anything?

Yes, you could. But I have basically every form that I might need--fax cover sheet, instructions, application, replacement forms, conditional receipt, replacing agent's declarations of sales materials used, etc. etc.--all bundled together in one Form Tools file. Obviously, you don't need every form on every case.

So I Dropbox the completed file from my iPad to my laptop, scrub the app, and take out the unneeded pages, and efax from my laptop.

I'm sure there's a way to remove unneeded pdf pages on a certain iPad application that I don't know about, but this is how I do it.

I am currently using my IPad to do my applications. However, something is giving me a lot of trouble. When I take a photo of the applicants voided check and insert it onto the application, the check comes out very dark when it gets to the company, unreadable in some cases. The way I have to do it, is first I email the application to my IMO who prints it out, scrubs the application, then faxes it to the insurance company. I have tried enhancing the image, even placing the check under a lamp when taking the picture. Does anybody have any ideas on what might help?

Are you using scanner software on your iPhone? I do and mine look fine.
