Is Dave Ramsey a Dirty Word (or Two)?

Back on to Dave Ramsey:

I like to listen to him for the same reason I like to watch Judge Judy. I like how fast they can make an assessment of the person's problem and they use good common sense to come up with a solution.

Both of them are very full of themselves.

The part about Dave Ramsey I don't like is that he acts like his way is inflexible and the ONLY way and if you do anything different (whole-life insurance, credit cards, business loans, annuities, selling your house without a realtor, etc.) you are a moron who is just stupid and you need to "wake up."

I also don't like how Dave hits the mute button when anyone who is successful calls in if they don't agree with everything he says. He wears that mute button out and I would like to hear what the person has to say.

BUT...it's his show about his opinion...so mine doesn't matter.

I assume the contract is a Variable Annuity, why did the client but the policy, didn't they understand the risk and costs?
The point was they are 'happy' about their guaranteed values. Had they listened to DR and bought some fidel/t rowe funds instead they would have been 'unhappy'.

Awesome. Now I pretty well understand why you guys don't agree with him. I've definitely noticed that some of his advice is a little off, but the general concept (avoid debt, live below your means, save, etc etc) is dead on, and his way of teaching it has turned my financial life around. I'm only 24 and have already gone from 38K in debt to 18K in debt in a year. That's really not bad considering! I'm not here to pump him up or anything, just noting it.

It seems to me that his advice should be good for people with common sense, not people who are going to follow it word for word (hmm... kinda like the Bible itself?).

Either way, I'm so pumped I got started in the insurance industry. I really think this is the perfect place for me to be, once I'm done playing rockstar hahaha. Hopefully I will run into some of you guys while I'm on tour in April. Any west coasters? That's where I'll be!

Haha, well I'm sure there are a ton of insurance rockstars here. I'm working at that musician rockstar thing. If you go to YouTube and search for "Honor Bright on TRL", you'll see my band playing acoustic on MTV. I'm by no means a rockstar... but ya know. Working at making music a career.

By the way, I'm the short haired guitar player.

You are pretty good on the guitar. Wish I could play! How does insurance fit into your gig?
