Is MADP a Big Selling Opportunity?

I don't want to put words in his mouth, but I think Alston was asking is if there are enough like that out there to focus on seeking them out, and if so, how to find them.

Wouldn't regular Med Supp marketing would be the best way to uncover them? Cold calls and DM? The difference is if they have a MAPD now, they don't have to be put on a future call-back basis in October. They can be helped now (well, now as in Jan 1 - Feb 14).

Don't put words in my mouth. "it's not sanitary." (RIP Zig Ziglar).

Sanitary or not, that was my question.

I think I have my answer.

I'll basically use the same strategy I use during the rest of the year.

Thanks.

Vic120,

I was told I can't write the Med Sup application until after January 1st for MADP. I wanted to write one here in December for a 2/1/17 effective date and was told I have to wait and have the Med Sup app dated 1/1/17 or after. What is your experience with this?

The supplement could be written anytime, so u could do it in Dec for Feb, no problem there. The problem is the PDP plan, it cant be dated til Jan during the MAPD dis-enrollment period, thats the difference.

You Can write the Supp with Feb 1st effective, You don't need to write the PDP until Jan anyway, This will allow for underwriting and if you are approved than you know to do the PDP in Jan

Correct, I was answering your question about writing the supplement in Dec for Feb, that can be done....it doesnt have to wait to have a Jan date. The PDP does have to wait, which u seem to already know.

Well my FMO must be mistaken because they said it will not be accepted for a MADP until we are in that election period. This client has the VA so will not be writing a PDP. Not a big deal either way if I write it the 1st week of January will have an answer in time to cancel MA plan by 2/1/17.

Yes you FMO is mistaken, It is good you have a prospect that will sit an wait to do app, Many times they will wait and many times the wont. I find its best to do app at the earliest time possible

You can write most Med Supps 90 days from the effective date, a few are 60. You could've written this policy November the 1st.

And then there is Medico you can write 6 months out. 1 to 2 day turn around with UW decision. They we were my go to this AEP on the supp side.

Now that you mention it, I do remember that, but I forgot(did that make any sense...:goofy:). I've got them, but have never used them...they just aren't competitive here.
