Is This Car Totaled? And How Fast Was the Other Car Going?

I know this doesn't help you but I can see what your saying and it would seem putting in a turning only green arrow light would help safety.

That would be a great outcome (for the community) if they installed a green arrow signal at this intersection, since similar accidents seem to happen every month or so at this particular location.

Yeah, it looks like a traffic engineering problem.

As far as fault, I don't see how in those circumstances you can PROVE speed. Audi will be at fault. Probably totalled, but it's right on the line of what they fix now. 2 doors and a body panel.

Yeah, I think proving speed may be impossible, but just wondered what everyone thought based on the photos (and physics).

To avoid confusion, I (unscientifically) modified 2 of my original uploaded photos in case they explain what happened better.

The Capital of my state has two rotaries and the rules of those 2 rotaries are crazy accidents happen all the time. Those 2 rotaries are the #1 and #2 places for accidents for the Entire state...When I drive through that city I bypass them entirely for my own safety, its nuts.

I think the SUV had to be speeding to inflict that much damage.

If I was driving the SUV at the posted 35mph no doubt I could've stopped. According to your suv view of the approaching intersection, it could see the audi first. Doesn't look as if the suv made any avoidance maneuver.

Wow, you guys are brutal!!!
My guess is a 35 MPH impact probably would have rolled the audi over. I've seen that happen. It definitely would have inflicted more damage. Talk to a body shop, but basically cars are designed to absorb the impact of being hit. This means they look like these pictures and from relatively low speed accidents.

Could the SUV have stopped? Yes. Could the Audi not have made the turn? Yes. Accidents happen.

This is what insurance is for. File a claim and move on.

The Audi is definately repairable. It will depend on it's salvage value if it's an economical loss. And being an Audi will hurt the salvage value a little since not a lot of people call salvage yards looking for Audi parts.

The insurance co, will total the car. A dealer will buy it fix it,and someone will buy it, and if they don't get a car fax, they will have a crooket car.

I love crooket cars! Very good deals on them!

You might drive sideways going down the road, but thats what makes things fun and interesting!
