It Was Bound to Happen!

Yes, they can start a business, but how many 65+ have the funds and desire to do that?

I have a 3 life group where two employees are over 65. Medicare is primary, group is secondary.

Maybe you need to ask Hugh Hefner or Larry King. They sired kids long after 65 . . .

Doubt it if they have that kind of cash. I guess they can either cross their fingers and hope she doesn't get hospitalized before 2014 (like the DOI told them) or maybe PCIP. Not my client. I wonder if they called an agent, or just the companies direct.

I wonder if they called an agent

ROFL.

Even if they did, odds are they got the wrong one. Some doofus that offered them a mini med.

Looking at the PCIP app, I don't think they could qualify.

I remember looking this up before and decided it was not an option. Since the kid does not "have a pre-existing medical condition or has been denied because of their health condition" they are excluded from Obamacrap, the PCIP version.

Kinda makes you wonder what else the critters in DC failed to consider that will surface once we get to 2014.

Except for that "affordable health insurance" thing . . .

Tell them to move to CA. We have year-round kid GI out here on IFP thanks to AB2244

Bet THAT'S not cheap! Seriously though these people had no clue. And, they were offered no solutions. Seems they wrote insurance companies and asked, didn't use an agent I guess. Also, the news team said the DOI didn't respond to the story. I have a feeling, if this continues, they will blame the insurance industry. They probably already do.

In AZ, the PCIP requires you to be without insurance for 6 months, and that includes medicaid. I don't know the rules in her state, but I don't believe she would be eligible for PCIP either. She may be able to take several short-term plans, though, as I think there are still short-term plans covering child-only.
