Arrived at my 10 am appt today, only to be greated by a number of barking dogs inside. I could hear the Chaos inside for a few minutes as I waited patiently on the doorstep. 3 mins later the lady of the house said from inside, "wait a minute" [encouraging].

She finally opens the inside door, there are 5 dogs leaping and barking at me from inside the storm door. She is feverishly attempting to coral them to no avail. Finally she opens the door and 4 of them escape as they are barking at my feet. I then enter the house with the one remaining pooch checking me out cautiously. Mom admits that she forgot that I was coming [appt set two days ago, no way you call to remind them]. She had been sleeping on one couch in the LR, on the other couch is Dad, oxygen in nose, [copd - chf], two trash cans full of spent beer cans.... he acknowledges me, then lights up a cigarette.

We chat a bit... or at least me and Mom; Dad is tired and still horizontal while puffing on the cig. Go thru the spiel a bit, get her warmed up, present three scenarios to her... I knew she was on-board here... so she says to Dad, "Whaddya think...?" [he thinks he wants me to leave and maybe he can add to the empty beer cans from last night]. I see him beginning to stir some... he and I have a little dialogue back and forth.... so here comes the sale... I then begin explaining to Dad, who is still laying flat, no shirt on, covered up with a blanket, puffing on a cig, oxy in nose... I then explain to him that "Life Ins is the Gift of Love... it isn't for you, and I realize that you don't want to buy this, but what about your wife and your son...?" [Kind of difficult to talk to some old codger who is shirtless, laying on the couch smoking a cig, about the "Gift of Love..."] :1smile: :goofy:

Then I asked him what his middle initial was and began to write. No issues with the rest of the sale... and Mom was very glad that he went along with the program... He did have to halfway sit up to sign his name in 3 places.... Dad Modified - ROP; Mom - Graded benefit plan. $ 125 mo prem total.

Just another day at the office. And it all spends!!

Oh, Man, that made my day.

You should keep a journal.

Newby told me day we should write a book. I told him the only people that would believe it were other FE agents.

Man I would buy the audio version of that.

Loved it! We FE guys have the best gig in the whole insurance biz. In my 30 years I have done it all - auto, home, business, traditional life, health, DI.

FE is far and away the best. Never a dull moment, easy sale, limited E&O exposure, minimal to no underwriting hassles and great $$

I didn't want to drone on too much in the orig post... but one other thing that I did while there... after the life sale was all buttoned up, was obtain a [looooong] list of their Rx. Later today I analyzed these thru the Med.gov site just as if it was AEP. There is at least $ 200 mo of oop between the two of them that can be saved for them by moving them to other plans. They on the most costly plans avail to them. My view is that maybe we'll take $ 100 of that savings and buy them some more life ins...

Mom was plenty sharp and she knew far more about what is happening than most at this age. She rattled off every Rx and dosage that each of them is taking to the letter without even looking; then I verified it against the Rx bottles and she was dead on. Who could do that one; about 10-15 scripts each. Wow.

I can't think clearly at the moment; can they disenroll their Part D [Jan 1 - Feb 14] and if they did so would they get a SEP? I just can't think this thru at the moment. If not, we'll do this next yr.

Whoever mentioned ROP or RIP for Dad... you're dead on... Odds against that claim ever being paid for the full policy amount. Double Wow!! But it is 11:30 pm now... I am here pecking on the computer and he is probably onto filling up the 2nd trash can full of beer cans again. Yippee, he knows how to live better than I.

The MADP is exactly that, Medicare Advantage Disenrollment. Not PDP.

Are they QMB, SLMB, QI-1, LIS or anything? Any extra help at all?
