Licensing School Advice

Heads up - check with your Dept of Insurance - some states do not allow on-line classes for pre-licensing training!

shouldn't be a problem in his case. I did it all online in Ohio, and you can do your continuing education online, too

hey I just passed AD Bankers course here in California. I used their online course which was awesome. Great interactive questions made it better for learning. I also took one of their full day exam preps because I wanted to pass it the first time no worry in my mind after that.

I've both the class and the online course. All I can say is do the online course. not only do you not miss a week of your life, but also you don't miss a week of work! some of these online courses can be a lot cheaper than their in person counterpart. not to mention they charge you for "studyhall" or "Crams" as well as you can do it at your leisure at home within a two or three week period!

The Online course I took let you read the material and take the practice test as many times as you wanted at no extra charge!!!!

hope this helps.

You all have no idea how lucky you are to be able to take the on-line courses - we can't here in MN for some reason - has to be classroom. I finished the basics class and am trying to get both my P/C class taken - and they only hold them during the week. With my current work schedule it's making me crazy(er)! :goofy:

I'm just getting into the insurance business and my recruiter recommended ad banker for prelicensing courses. She did not specify whether I should use online or classroom.

Does anyone have any input on which is better?

I'm in Ohio by the way
Ben, I believe class room study is better for newbies. More real time interaction to ask questions.

The only way I would attend a classroom is the licensing body requires classroom training. All of the classes I have ever attended in person will put you to sleep.

I agree with Peter. I liked being in a classrom setting where I could ask a question when I had a question. Drawback is that so can everyone else. Every class has a "What if..." person in it and that can be frustrating. But I believe the benefits outweigh the inconveniences.
Just my two cents.

Here in Washington, they require classroom time, so I didn't have a choice. I have to admit that I really didn't mind the classroom. It was a small class and we didn't just focus on memorizing information, but also on understanding the concepts. I get bored with repetition, so having an instructor keeping me focused and other classmates around to crack jokes with really helped keep things moving. I'm not saying I'd want to do it again, but I'm also not sure I'd prefer to do the online training.

Just my $.02.

I am in Oregon. Until a couple of years ago, we did not have the choice. I did mine in the class setting. If I had to do it again, I would do the online course.

Another thing to keep in mind is how you best learn. Some people do better in the classroom.
