I have a client who was rejected by a FE carrier because of a M.I.B. report. Their underwriters for the carrier stated that they cannot give out the reason for the decline, to me or the client. The client must contact M.I.B. I called M.I.B. and only heard prompts. Apparently to find out the reason for the decline, the client has to submit the rejection letter from the carrier along with a M.I.B. Disclosure form. To obtain the disclosure form, the client must send a request to M.I.B..

There must be a better way. Any suggestions?

Sadly, there is not a better way. Unless someone has found one. Then I'd also be curious to hear.

MIB will send them their report for free if they call the number. Takes about a week to get it. SO have them call for their report and not for the reason they sere declined. You should see the reason once you get the report.

Here ya go, the Disclosure form from MIB, fax or email the completed form with a copy of the ins co declination and MIB will respond with requested info. Albeit all in their coded data.

Thanks for that form, but what do you mean by "coded data"? Will the client be able to understand exactly why he was turned down?

Think of it like getting turned down for credit. You have to go through the credit agency to get the reason and they send a credit report. Not overly complex but not necessarily a walk in the park. If you have questions after receiving it...then you can call and get explanations.

The carrier has to tell them why they were declined. They should be receiving a letter in the mail with the reason. If not, tell them to call the DOI.

That was my thought, but I went round and round with underwriting and they were not going to give a reason to me or the client. Very strange.
