Mailer Timing Question

I'm getting ready to order my first mailer for final expense and will order on a weekly basis to generate the steady flow. My question stems from the time of year we are in. I read that some agents only mail 10 months of the year and skip Nov and Dec. My mailer leads will start touching down smack in the middle of these two months. Is that a real concern? Do people really shut down on FE during these two months? I can't afford to wait till after the holidays to start seeing people. If there is any wisdom floating around on this, I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

EFES mails for me year round. I personall don't run appointments the week of Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year.

When I did my own mail I mailed all year.

First, you need to be mailing to a wide group each drop. 3,000 pieces minimum, to get the best % return result and ROI.

If you can only afford 1,000/wk. change that to at least 3,000 every other week.

You may as well forget doing any mailers after Dec 10, they get lost with all the Seasonal mail that is done and will produce your lowest ROI. Start up again on Jan 2.

Seeing prospects the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas and New Years is also tough. You will find many agents taking their vacations during that time.

Just curious - why would you expect a higher percentage of return from a 1,000 piece as opposed to a 3,000 piece?

Your spreading the risk in mailing over a larger area.

You have heard that agents do a mailer of 1,000 and get back 5 cards. When you widen the drop area, you are more likely to get a broader response based on larger numbers.

Most agent's fail at direct mail individually because they do not fund their mail budget to consistently mail every two weeks of 3k-5k pieces.

We have a higher percent return when we mail 5,000 or more in an area for an agent. EFES, Securus, and TwiLight all experience the same. Larger agencies are taking on the risk, instead of the individual agent.

It's so funny you should ask this today...I was just thinking should I mail or not..for the next few month's and then I thought do you want to work Fool...lol.

I was a captive agent and now I am independent paying for everything and I like it that way!

I have Friends that only do Final Expense and both of them wrote over $20,000 in the month of December last year. That is worth working!! This will be the First Year as an independent agent working in December, I made money Captive and I am sure I should make money as an independent agent.

So I would say if you are an agent who works you will be fine! I used to shut down the whole month of December...not anymore...I still make money the month of Christmas!!!:twitchy:

Message to all FE agents: Do not mail in November or December. It is not worth it. Take those months off. I will be working for you. Thank you.
