Mailers for Homeowners

Allstate is sending out great mailers in my area - they are hand addressed envelopes with stamps. Once you open the envelope it has a quote letter. On the page the quote is circled in pen and handwriting is all over the place. The handwriting is likely the same for every quote they send out so they just copy that on but the kicker is at the very top they actually hand write the recipients name. The only way I could tell is that the handwriting for the name is different than the rest of the handwriting.

I'm guessing they are using that "roboagent" that Schwetty mentioned. I wish we had something similar to send out mass quotes... that is the key - automating for cost cutting but personalizing just enough to boost the open rate. Very clever.

I have used this approach to gain lots of business when my company had good home rates. I have stopped doing it once our rates took a huge jump.

Run your numbers each month, as long as you are breaking even on year 1, the renewals will keep paying for themselves for years to come.

With Allstate I was able to use a program called "Robo-Agent" that would mass quote hundreds of homes in a short period of time. Is there any program that will do that in the IA world or do you have to do each quote individually?

Can you give a close ratio on your mailer

Does anyone know where I could buy a homeowners list with square footage, year built, construction style, insured name and address??? I want to do a massive HO Quote through ezlynx and do a mailing. Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks-

Great information fellas. Would you mind emailing me an example of what you would use as a direct mail piece?

Thanks,

So, are you using the letters that incorporate a quote/indication based on the county data records for the home?

I have seen this type of letter and it looks pretty good. I have heard these can be quite effective for direct mail.

I'm just not sure how they do it? Does anyone here know?

I am not sure where you are located, but I just get the lists from the county records online. You can search by address or settlement date. How do you mass quote on ezlynx? I just create a generic quote for a particular neighborhood. All the same year built, same square footage etc. I still only get about a 1.5% response.

Do you do these mailing yourself or are you using a mailing house? I'm sure you can save some money doing it yourself, just not sure if it is worth it?
