Mandated ACA Commissions for 2017 ?

Years ago we were in Cherokee for a mini vacation. Our son was maybe 7 or 8 at the time and developed a severe earache. We took him to the clinic and were told they were not allowed to treat him. Had to drive 2 hours to someplace in NC that had a real hospital ER.

The Indian clinic would not even take cash.

But the casino would gladly take your cash!

This pre-dated the casino, Lee. The big entertainment then, other than having your picture made with a real "chief", was Unto These Hills.

So the woman who helped to start this whole mess now lobbies for the insurance industry.... business as usual in Washington. And of course she predicts "big increases" for premiums in 2017.

The Casino and hotels in Cherokee arent worth the money if your going for normal gambling. But for poker I can put up with it.

BCBS of SC just eliminated SEP comp on IHI with effective dates of 6/1/16 or later.

BlueCross and BlueChoice® will eliminate agent commissions for new sales of individual ACA plans sold during the 2016 Special Enrollment Period (SEP) with effective dates of June 1, 2016, through December 31, 2016.
NOTE: Commissions will be paid on new SEP enrollments that occur with effective dates prior to June 1, 2016.
This commission change includes the following:
· ACA qualified health plans sold through the Health Insurance Marketplace (www.healthcare.gov or the Federally Facilitated Marketplace call center) as well as plans sold on the BlueCross Marketplace and BlueOptionSM private exchanges. For BlueCross, these are our BlueEssentialsSM individual and family plans. For BlueChoice, these are our BlueOption individual and family plans.

· New SEP enrollments and any returning enrollees with gaps in coverage.

· New SEP enrollments for members switching from “Blue to Blue” (i.e., members moving from a small or large group BlueCross or BlueChoice plan to an individual BlueCross or BlueChoice plan; members moving from BlueCross to BlueChoice or vice versa).

This commission change does NOT affect the sales of these products:
· Maintenance SEPs for existing, “in-force” contracts. These are SEPs that simply involve a change to an existing policy, such as birth, marriage or a change in financial position. This also includes updates to either add a dependent and/or change the policy.

Please note that BlueCross and BlueChoice will continue to pay all other commissions per our usual schedule and policy. This change only applies to ACA individual products sold during the 2016 SEP with effective dates of June 1, 2016 thru December 31, 2016.
