Okay, it appears that more people I know seems to succeed in NY Life just entering the field but Mass gives you more freedom in a lot of different aspects.
I am wondering btwn just their whole life in general, which would you rather own just between the two.
And pricewise, can you say one is usually cheaper than the other.

Also, has any agent replace NY Life products or are they usually hard to replace in terms of value and or people not wanting to give it up.
NY LIfe has more recognition then Mass so it looks like that is one factor that seems to sell more.
Ny life goes out with you I read and does not take a cut.
Mass usually you are joined up with senior agents who take 50/50 cut.
Mass seems to have a lower compensation than NY life.

Freedom without structure = failure.

There's no such thing as "cheaper" life insurance. Once you're well-versed in life insurance, you will learn this well.

Compensation plans will have too little difference to matter.

I wouldn't worry about replacement until you have a prospect.

New York Life will undoubtedly have better name recognition simply because there's no hiding who you are and what you do when you represent NY Life as opposed to "MassMutual". (The public can't easily infer what MassMutual is about just by the name.) That can be either good or bad for you - depends on your perspective.

NYL will go out with you without a cut and also offers LUTCF courses "in house" to help you continue to grow your sales skills.

The main thing (and has been emphasized many times on this forum) is the actual support and people in each agency.

Thanks DHK for your response. I am also thinking long term and just really curious in terms of products whole life which one is better. I want to be able to sell my family the better products. With Mass, if they get turned down, they also let you sell other products. Also, just curious if a lot of NY Life policy gets replaced or do most people hang on to it.

Ps. Also, I really want to get into FE market but have an immediate market that would more likely get NY Life or Mass...with Mass, I would have the freedom to do that but not NY Life. Also, and I will probably get so bash for this but am really praying and thinking about it. I love homosexual people regardless but do not agree with their lifestyle. I have family and friends who are gay but as a Christian I believe it is sin and I know NY Life on their website gives to Harvey Milk and also addresses the LGBT ..I didn't even know what that stood for, it is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, they try to meet specifically their needs as a family. I don't know yet for sure if being involve with that is just endorsing/condoning that lifestyle which can have a promoting effect..anyway, again, am not throwing stones..anyone can be forgiven in God's eyes, we are all sinners but not sure if that would be promoting.. I am not for same sex marriage..anyway these are my concerns and probably I should not post here but am doing so...confuse..should talk to my Pastor.

Look, as a professional, you can choose who you'd like to do business with.

However, I'm of the opinion that if you can serve nice people, you should do so. Gay, straight, or whatever... the commission check still cashes the same way.

My "deal breakers" are these: no income and rude. If you aren't working, you can't be my client. If you're rude, you won't be my client.

Your job is to serve other with THEIR needs based on THEIR situation. Your job is to be knowledgable (or find knowledgable people) to help people in THEIR situation. You don't have to become like them to serve them. Just be nice and friendly. If someone asks if you serve the LGBT community, I'd say that I serve many people and that includes people who may identify themselves in that way. You don't have to join the "Pride Planners" to serve them.

So, I'm not confused on this... and I'm a "pro-prop 8" MORMON! :) But that doesn't mean that I won't help anyone who wants my help.

What the HQ does with THEIR money has nothing to do with how I serve clients. The fact that NYL offers "AARP endorsed products" wouldn't deter me from selling NYL even though I can't stand AARP. (Weak example, I know.)

Thanks again for your reply...ya, I understand where you are coming from but to me it comes down to if I don't believe in same sex marriage, then turn around and acknowledge them as a family unit, by meeting their needs as a family then somehow I find that going against my conviction so I think I will not do it. I may find I"m wrong later but to me this would be consistent in what the right thing to do is based on my belief.
