Did you watch the news tonight? The House passed the proposed Budget with billions of dollars of Medicaid cuts. It has nothing to do with left wing media hysteria.

So I did a little research and verified it with a Newsweek (hardly a conservative outlet) Fact Check. There is no explicit wording in the budget that states that there will be a $800 billion cut to Medicaid. The bill enables the Energy and Commerce Committee to decide what exact programs and areas will be cut. This committee oversees Medicaid funding, as well as energy, climate programs, the FCC, the FDA, and others.

The genesis of this claim is Bobby Kogan, Sr. Director of Federal Budget Policy at American Progress who also served in the Biden administration.

Newsweek has labeled the $800 billion cut as False.

Drop in the bucket? 2024 budgets for Dept of Energy is $131 billion, HHS is $144 billion of discretionary and $1.7 trillion mandatory, EPA is $9.16 billion, FTC is $590 million, FDA is $7.2 billion, and FCC is $390 million.
