MIB Question

Well, I'll give you the situation. I was doing a Foresters app since she was declined with another carrier and our IMO said there was no other fully underwritten option. When she did the phone interview, they got on with me and told me to ask the question again (alzheimers or demntia) I did and she said no. They then said the question was asked again because of the MIB regarding that specific question and because of that they can't issue.

were you using a non-med carrier?

NON med does not mean they are going to take a client that has been declined by another company. 1st then the non med company will do is pull the mib and other things and also decline the agent... NOn med does not mean no underwriting or questions...like question number 1. have you been declined for life insurance in the last 24 months..

I believe they ~do not~ have outcomes. Just codes that alert any company to an issue. No outcomes. And the info is not there forever. Go to MIB.com and get your own FREE MIB report. And client that has had a decline or rating should do the same before re applying. IMnsHO

The MIB contains underwriting outcomes; issued preferred, declined, postponed, etc.

The MIB does have conditions because I saw my father and it listed diabetes. At least last year they were.

As I copy and pasted on an earlier post. MIB is a partnership of insurance companies so they can share info.

This info is anything that is significant to the underwriting process (health conditions, treatments, approvals, declines, etc.)

Yes they list specific medical conditions if it is relevant to underwriting. And I believe it stays on there forever.

Briko,
your lady was most likely denied because she lied in the telephone interview. If she has a history of dementia in her MIB and she said no to the question, that is probably the reason for the decline. Not the condition itself. But she might not have considered what happened dementia...it sounds like a communication problem to me... I would speak to her about it, then the underwriter

I have a client that got declined due to information on the MIB (dementia). She went to the doctor with temporary memory problems due to fibromyalgia (fibrofog...which apparently is normal with fibromyalgia). How can we get the MIB to be more specific with what it actually is to get her approved, or is this a lost cause?

You can't change or clarify the information on the MIB report. It is what it is. If she was rated or declined by another carrier for the same reason then it's going to come up anytime she applies for life insurance. If it's not actually dementia but something related to fibromyalgia, she should have no trouble getting a letter from her doctor explaining that. Submit that to the carrier and ask them to reconsider the decline. No guarantees but it's worth a shot.

My question is did the client tell you the truth to start with or did they lie to you?? Did they not know the mib and other systems would know about this condition??
