My personal experience with Aflac

Re: My personal experience with Aflac.

The thing to understand is for the most part that is insurance recruiting for alot of companies, not just the duck. Very few people trying to get you to sign up are straight forward about the job.

I went to work for a well known company under a certain "story" so to speak and found out very quickly, it wasn't so. Of the 10 people I started with in the "bull pen", all but me were gone within a year. It seemed like you were working to create files for a senior agent. I moved out of their offices and paid for my own space as I felt it was "safer" for me to be away from those who were trying to "help" me. You have to realize in some capitive situations the "help" you receive isn't for you other than to "help you out the door, thanks for the client files".

If you decide to stay in the business, believe half the stuff you are told and you'll do OK and realize that you are the ONLY person who cares if you make it or not.

Re: Working for Aflac?

Yes, I was lured in by the duck as well. I stayed for 2 weeks until I saw the light. I caught my DSC in quite a few blatant lies in that short period of time as well as noticing the inaccuracy of the "facts" that I was enticed in under. They were actively recruiting my replacement before I even began. That illustrates the turn and burn nature of AFLAC agencies. My hope in posting about my experiences is to save someone else the headache of dealing with the duck. I can only say that the experience prompted me to get my license and armed me with some knowledge as to what to look out for as I endeavor to find a real insurance job.[/quo

You can not judge AFLAC just do to the fact that 1 person/DSC lied to you.
If AFLAC is such a bad company, how then can AFLAC be a $60 billion dollar company? why are there over 350,000 payroll accounts in the USA?

Re: Working for Aflac?

You're like the kid that keeps trying to put the square peg in the round hole... It's SICKLE-CELL ANEMIA. Keep quackin' away...
Not at all, I am just happy to write for AFLAC. The only reason I came to this BBS/forum is a friend told me about all the bad press being said about AFLAC here. So I came to read all the bullspit----

And what we have is a few people that did not make it at AFLAC for what ever reason and now they feel to take it upon the selfs to tell every one how bad of a company AFLAC is..and working for a company for only 2 weeks I guess gives you all the insight to educate the rest of the world about AFLAC.

Re: Working for Aflac?

My judgement of AFLAC goes deeper than 1 DSC lying to me numerous times. It is a result of RSC's, DSC's, State coordinator, and agents (just like you) misrepresenting facts and operating in a less than ethical manner. It also has to do with how potential clients view AFLAC because of the way agents (such as yourself) have represented AFLAC. Your conduct on this board, as well as the conduct of many (not all) of the agents in the field is why AFLAC has a bad name with so many people in the industry and general public. I'm not knocking AFLAC's products, I am saying that they do a poor job of hiring and because of this, they are working against the enormous sum of money that they spend on advertising and gaining name recognition.

Insurance guy:

I swear, I have never mentioned sisalcell before posting in this forum! In fact, before hodaka mentioned it, I'd never heard of it (I know what he meant).

You mention that you have the same products as AFLAC, which would surprise me. Agents in my area make their living market AFLAC's Cancer Indemnity Plan, a plan which literally saves families from financial ruin (I hate to say it, but my family is in that group).

Yeah, manager's recruit - I also have the right to be compensated for my efforts. New agent's come and go, despite my best efforts at training. Guys like NotForEveryone and 2Fast who put in a total effort of 6 weeks between them drain a tremendous amount of time, energy (and money) from a manager.

NotForEveryone would have wanted to see an annual report of agents commission. Let's say I show him this (I don't know if it exists). Hypothetically, this report shows a 5% agent retention rate. Quite frankly, I want the guy/girl who decides to make a go of it, rather than a guy like NotForEveryone and 2Fast. I know agents who are single mothers working at AFLAC 5 hours/day make $200,000. Are they rare? Absolutely.

I give agents the opportunity to make a great living, while helping people at the same time. No guarantees.

I admit, I'm not aware of the commissions you get through the other products you sell. But with a roughly 50% commission (2/3 of that wired to my bank account within $48 hours of obtaining a signature), 5% renewals (vested lifetime after 10 years with AFLAC), 3.5% stock in a company that has shown an average 22% increase annually over the last nine years, I think it's a pretty good deal.

I'm sure other companies are good to work for. Still, I'd put AFLAC's products, numbers, record, and ethics, as well as the opportunity - up against anyone elses, despite what members of this forum say.

The only "bullspit" here is a result of you. I have an accurate view of MY experience with AFLAC and it parallels the experience of many others. The least you could do is try and represent yourself in an articulate manner.

My facts are correct and from AFLAC, they are a publicly held company
ticker AFL, now being a publicly held means the you get to look at there sales numbers and there finanical statement. So feel free to do just that and then you will see the same facts and numbers I post here...

Re: Working for Aflac?

Did I dispute your facts? No, with the exception of sisalcell, I did not. I did and do dispute your and AFLAC's representation of the facts. All of which has been debated on here already. The fact that you continue on in the same way with the same script brings me back to my earlier statement. You're like the kid who KEEPS trying to put the square peg in the round hole.

Re: Working for Aflac?

Hodaka and PL-

If your company is so reputable, and your so proud of your company... Give us your name, office address, office phone number, and position with the company...

That is if your so proud of your standing with the company...

I am proud of my business, my clients love me, and I am able to sell a number of products, So i post my name, address, phone number, and everything with every post... I got nothing to hide....

So step out behind the shadows and lets be real here...

Spill the beans...

As for recruiting... I too am able to recruit... the diffence is I have top contracts and AGENTS CALL ME!!!!! I dont have to advertise on craigslist or careerbuilder... Independent agents call me looking for contracts... and when we talk I have NEVER HEARD do you carry AFLAC!

I would hang up in their face...
